Colonial Pumpkin Bars

Reviewed: Oct. 21, 2008
I've been making these bars for several years, but just joined AllRecipes. Every time I make them, people rave about them and ask for the recipe. Most recently, a coworker said, "I don't like pumpkin, but this is like cake. Really good cake." Highly recommend this recipe!

Dad's Leftover Turkey Pot Pie

Reviewed: Dec. 30, 2014
Made this with leftover holiday turkey and it was perfect! We used a bag of frozen mixed vegetables that included corn, but other than that, followed the recipe exactly. We usually find SOMETHING that needs to change in a recipe, but we wouldn't change a thing with this one! This will be a new post-holiday tradition.

Savory Garlic Marinated Steaks

Reviewed: May 31, 2010
"I just had what may have been the best steak of my life," -- boyfriend. I don't give five stars often, but that is a five-star comment! Our plans changed, so the steaks marinaded for almost three days. They were so tender they were falling apart on the grill. The flavor was amazing. I didn't, and wouldn't, change a thing. We'll be grilling these many more times this summer.

Whole Wheat Ginger Snaps

Reviewed: Nov. 6, 2012
Delicious! Exactly what I was hoping for! The ONLY thing that might make it better is if the cookies were thinner -- it was slightly thick for a hard cookie.

Harvest Salad

Reviewed: Jun. 19, 2012
Great recipe that's easy to customize for personal tastes. I've made this several times now, and it feels fancy but it's easy to make. My only word of caution is that the walnut oil is fairly expensive. Good thing you only need a little bit each time.

Chicago-Style Pan Pizza

Reviewed: Oct. 28, 2009
Delicious! We used pre-seasoned diced tomatoes so omitted the garlic, salt and oregano. We also added some diced bell peppers and used only half an onion. I'll be making this one again for sure!

Jay's Hearty Breakfast Skillet

Reviewed: Oct. 28, 2009
Fantastic! My boyfriend says this is as good as our favorite breakfast restaurant. The great thing about the recipe is that you can substitute nearly anything for the suggested ingredients, as long as the potatoes, cheese and eggs stay the same. We've used breakfast sausage, mushrooms, bell peppers and spinach.

Southwestern Egg Rolls

Reviewed: Sep. 15, 2010
I've made these twice in two weeks and they were a hit both times! My entire department now has the link to this recipe. And at a Labor Day potluck, I was the only one without leftovers. I used egg roll wrappers instead of tortillas. I grilled the chicken on my Foreman instead of pan frying. I froze them overnight. Instead of deep frying, I brushed them with olive oil and baked about 8 min. a side at 450. The first time, I only froze for an hour, sprayed with cooking spray and baked at 425. They were good, but the second time crisped up much better.

Slow Cooker Turkey Breast

Reviewed: Dec. 6, 2010
I followed the recipe exactly, just rubbed the inside of the crock pot with a little bit of butter. It turned out perfectly! Fell off the bone -- barely needed a knife! I will make this again for sure!

Ginger Glazed Mahi Mahi

Reviewed: Mar. 2, 2010
I couldn't find mahi mahi, so I just used frozen tilapia fillets that I had on hand. Very good flavor. The ginger is noticable but not overwhelming, giving it a nice fresh taste.

Fruit Dip II

Reviewed: Jul. 6, 2010
I used fat free cream cheese and fat free Cool Whip, along with 2 tbsp. lemon juice -- still had coworkers commenting on how good it was and asking for the recipe.

Roast Leg of Lamb with Rosemary

Reviewed: May 12, 2014
Made the mistake of using lamb breast instead of leg of lamb -- almost no meat on it! But the marinade was absolutely delicious.

Thai Pineapple Chicken Curry

Reviewed: Jan. 12, 2011
I substituted lite coconut milk for regular, and used instant jasmine rice instead of making my own, but otherwise followed the recipe exactly. Smelled and tasted delicious. I will be making this one again, although I may add a bit more curry to increase the spice level, and experiment adding different vegetables.

Slow Cooker Thai Peanut Pork

Reviewed: Mar. 2, 2010
This is very good. I cut the recipe in half and it didn't seem like enough sauce, but it turned out very well. My boyfriend requested additional red pepper flakes next time, but all in all, very tasty.

Best Italian Sausage Soup

Reviewed: Mar. 3, 2012
I made this for the first time and I'm eating it right now: delicious! I used hot Italian turkey sausage, uncased, and shiraz for the wine. I also took one reviewer's suggestion and sprinkled with a little mozzarella before serving. My only complaint: the directions didn't say anything about cutting the tomatoes, so I have a about 10 whole tomatoes floating in the finished soup, which was a little weird. I also should have cut the pasta -- it's a bit difficult to eat full linguini strands with a spoon.

Kielbasa Fried Rice

Reviewed: Jun. 19, 2012
I wouldn't call this an exceptional dish, but it is an easy, tasty way to use up leftover white rice from Chinese takeout. And, since leftover white rice means I've had Chinese food recently, I appreciate that the kielbasa changes the flavor profile a bit.

Quick Brussels and Bacon

Reviewed: Nov. 28, 2012
I'd never had brussel sprouts in my life, and this seemed like a good way to start. I followed many of the comments: steamed fresh brussel sprouts for about five minutes, then let them cool and cut them in half. I cooked the bacon, then sauteed fresh garlic and shallots in the bacon grease. They burned almost immediately, so I threw them out and started over in the remaining grease before adding the brussel sprouts and bacon back in. I cooked them longer than 7 - 10 minutes, though. I'll try it again, but I think I'll cook them a bit longer at a lower temperature, so I get more of the bacon flavor.
