I was a single mother for many years befor I met my wonderful husband of 10 years. Between us both, we have two daughters, a son, two biological grandsons, a new step granddaughter, and 3 step grandsons....6 grandchildren. I am a Paramedic and am currently working on my RN.
My favorite things to cook
Pasta! That's an easy answer. Cajun is a close second followed by grilling vegetables and baking fish and poultry. I need to add that I've just started herb gardening. Let me tell you, there is such a difference in the flavors of each dish. It's even better than the fresh herbs you buy in a store. Planning on packaging mine and my husbands Holiday Treats to sell.We are a team. We've been giving them out to neighbors, friends,and family. They're a hit. So, why not give it a try? Not selling to the above mentioned of course.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Christmas brunch. My husband and I enjoy making a spread that takes up the entire kitchen. While still in our pajamas, everyone enjoys French toast, biscuits and gravy, sweet rolls, scrambled eggs,sausage, bacon, jellies and jams, bowls of fruit, juices, coffee( seasoned with a hint of cinnamon), and milk. It gives us all a chance to bump into one another during a busy time.
My cooking triumphs
Chili! Spaghetti! Breads! Alfredo! Christmas Candy and Cookies!Baked Fish!Grilled Veggies!Salads!Tender Pot Roast!Soup!Baked Chicken! .....Note: I don't use much salt if I can help it.
My cooking tragedies
Do I really need to go here? The list is too long.I am convinced, however, that I am cursed by the biscuit Gods.

Grandma's Green Bean Casserole
Maybe it my own doing, but I wasn't too pleased with the results of this recipe. I used fresh green beans instead of canned and theat could have made the difference. It's just that the sauce turned out lumpy and the family wanted the fried onions back.

Pecan Snack
I used brown sugar instead of white. They were way beyond yummy. I had them in small bowls just as you would put any snack item and everybody raved about them. Even my little brother, who doesn't like pecans, kept heading back for more. Also, if you're looking for something to fill your house with a "festive" aroma, this is your answer. Thanks Bea.

Scott Hibb's Amazing Whisky Grilled Baby Back Ribs
Fantastic! Didn't change a thing. At first I was nervous about it being to spicy, but not at all. Once everything cooked as ordered, it all melded together just great. A must try at least once. We will do it again.
