I like to experiment and alter recipes to my taste. I'm not afraid to substitute!
My favorite things to cook
Stir fry's. I like slicing mushrooms, and crushing garlic cloves under my ginsu. Hash browns. I have a secret spice mix. Slow cookers. It feels good to throw meat and veggies in a pot and come back 8 hours later to a lovely stew. Dips. Dog biscuits and also experimenting with therapeutic cat treats.

Janet's Rich Banana Bread
This is my preferred banana bread recipe. I make the following changes: 1/2 cup brown sugar and 1/4 cup white sugar, 1 cup whole wheat flour and 1/2 cup white flour, 2 large bananas mashed, and a large handful each of walnuts and chocolate chips...Also I mixed the flour/salt/baking soda seperately first, aswell as beat the eggs and vanilla together before adding to the butter and sugar...I put it in a square cake pan and it's done in less than an hour...The smell is amazing!

Vietnamese Dipping Sauce
I'm not sure what the "restaurant" version tastes like, but if it is similar to this, I won't like it...Too vinegary....IF I make this again, I will be tweaking a LOT...Less vinegar, brown instead of white sugar, and chili paste to mix better...and I heated it up while everything else cooked.

Strawberry Lemon Muffins
Very tasty - 12 muffins didn't last 24 hours! I used about a cup and a half of strawberries that I sprinkled with a cinnamon-sugar-saffron flavouring and let sit for 20 minutes. I also used buttermilk because it was there, and added maybe a half teaspoon of vanilla. Using a medium sized lemon I got about 2 tsp of zest and almost 3 tbsp of juice - lovely and lemony, I will try with raspberries next time!
