Chocolate Chocolate Chip Cookies I

Reviewed: Oct. 2, 2011
Oh my geez- WOW! These cookies are so freaking good. My 7 yr old said they taste like brownies- and they do. I did the half butter and half butter shortening. I also did half white and half semi-sweet chocolate chips. They came out soft and gooey on the inside. No need for me to ever buy pre-made cookie dough again. Love!

Pastry for Double Pie-Crust

Reviewed: Sep. 27, 2011
This dough came out great. I had been using the frozen pie crust and after trying this I doubt I'll be using it again. I wanted to do like other people and use the butter shortening but all I had was the plain. So I used half shortening and half butter. I added a tsp of sugar like some others suggested. I also had to use a little more water to get it to 'mold' together. I put it in the freezer until I ready to use (about 30 mins). It came out very flaky on my chicken pot pie. I think maybe I'll use all butter next time and see how that turns out. I keep all of the ingredients on hand so I have no reason to ever buy frozen pie crust again.

Pizza Dough I

Reviewed: Sep. 21, 2011
I was skeptical of this dough after all the ingredients were mixed- it was very crumbly. But after I formed the balls and pressed them out they came together. I used this recipe for my young kids and I to make personal pizzas. They were able to do most of it themselves. I poked holes, sprinkled some garlic powder, and rubbed olive oil on them and baked in the oven for about 10 mins before putting the toppings on. I also made pepperoni cheese sticks- fabulous. Overall, a decent recipe. Thx :)

Soft Onion Sandwich Rolls

Reviewed: Sep. 21, 2011
These came out very good. The recipe was along the lines of a yeast roll recipe I use. They tasted like that except with onion. I made them for pulled pork sandwiches. I didn't have any dehydrated onion so I did like some others and sauteed some raw onions until they dried out. The rolls still came out good. Thx :)

Rosemary Ranch Chicken Kabobs

Reviewed: Jun. 30, 2011
This marinade was awesome. I first tried it with boneless pork chops, marinated them and cooked them whole on the grill. I tasted the marinade but it wasn't enough for me. The second time I made them with boneless chicken breasts and cooked them on the grill. This time I just cooked the chicken whole and then tossed and basted them really good in the marinade- AWESOME. They came out so tender, juicy and full of flavor.

Veronica's Apple Pancakes

Reviewed: Jun. 30, 2011
These pancakes came out perfect for me. I added a splash of vanilla extract, nutmeg, and extra apple. I also added a little more milk because I don't like my pancakes too thick. My family and I really enjoyed them.

Heart Biscuits

Reviewed: Apr. 30, 2011
I was looking for a biscuit recipe without the use of shortening since I was out and I came across this. These biscuits came out so good and light. I made these to go with sausage gravy and I was almost mad I had the gravy on top. I believe these will be the biscuits I make from now on instead of the ones I've been making for over 10 yrs- they were that good. Thanks for sharing

Bill's Sausage Gravy

Reviewed: Apr. 25, 2011
I made it as written, pouring the flour in first and whisking then pouring the milk. Mines came out really lumpy. Even after whisking the heck out of it I still had some lumps. I find it best to pour flour in liquid in another bowl/cup and whisking before pouring into the pan. I plan to do it this way the next time I make this. Even with the lumps it was very good. My mom and daughter loved it. I also made homemade biscuits :-)

Honey Butter

Reviewed: Apr. 23, 2011
Very good butter. I just made some for Easter dinner tomorrow and I can't wait to eat it with the yeast rolls I'm making. I added some cinnamon to it to give a taste like the butter at Texas Roadhouse (we looooove their butter). I used unsalted butter because it's what I had on hand and I added the honey to suit my own taste.

To Die For Blueberry Muffins

Reviewed: Apr. 23, 2011
We had these muffins for breakfast this morning and they were pretty good. I didn't make blueberry muffins, instead I used the base of the recipe and made white chocolate chip-cranberry muffins. They came out quite tasty- everyone in my family loved them and wanted more. I used buttermilk instead of regular milk and I didn't make the crumb topping. They were also pretty sweet, most likely because of the chocolate, so if you make them this way cut back on the sugar. The only thing I didn't like is how much they stuck to the pan. I sprayed the heck out of the pan with cooking spray and they still stuck. Next time I'll just use paper cups.

White Chocolate Macadamia Nut Cookies IV

Reviewed: Apr. 21, 2011
These were pretty good. I did the recipe for the most part as written except I added a splash more vanilla extract. I also used walnuts instead of macadamia nuts because it's what I had on hand. I also did like someone else and put the dough in the refrigerator for about 20 mins before going on the cookie sheet. These made 15 big cookies for me. I'm looking forward to making these again except with the macadamia nuts, although the walnuts tasted great :-)

Ten Minute Szechuan Chicken

Reviewed: Apr. 7, 2011
I wasn't crazy about this recipe. It was ok. I did everything as the recipe called for but my husband and I agree that it just lacked flavor. Sorry :(

Garlic Cheese Biscuits

Reviewed: Apr. 7, 2011
I have to say I was skeptical about these tasting like the famous seafood restaurant but I'm so glad I was proven wrong. I had to pause after that first bite to take it all in..lol. My stepdaughter and husband agreed that these biscuits were amazing- and so inexpensive to make. A recipe like this could be dangerous to my waistline. Thanks so much for sharing =)

Spanish Rice II

Reviewed: Mar. 30, 2011
This rice was very good. I've never had authentic Spanish rice so I can't rate it on that. However, it was still very tasty. I did a few things differently. I cooked my rice separately then folded it into the onions, peppers, and tomatoes. I also added some cumin just because I thought it needed it and stirred in some chicken broth for extra flavor. I will definitely make this again..very yummy.

Vintage Lemonade

Reviewed: Mar. 30, 2011
I just made this lemonade today and I couldn't wait to rave about it. Let me just say- DELICIOUS! My whole family loved it. The only thing I did differently was poured the sugar/lemon peel mixture in the hot water. I only did this because my bowl wasn't big enough to hold it all. Other than that everything was according to the recipe. I plan to try this again with the juice of an orange. Once again- DELICIOUS!

Bread Pudding II

Reviewed: Mar. 28, 2011
I've loved and wanted to try making bread pudding since I had my first taste at Pappadeaux's years ago. This bread pudding is fabulous! My husband and agree it tastes just like Pappadeaux's. I did like some other people and used 8 slices of Sunmaid cinnamon raisin bread and used 3 eggs instead of 4. I actually forgot about it while in the oven so it cooked about 10 min longer but it came out perfect. This will definitely be my go-to recipe for bread pudding..no need to try anything else. Now I just need to find the right bourbon sauce to go with it. Ice cream will do for now :-)

Banana Nut Bread I

Reviewed: Mar. 15, 2011
I hate to go against all of the positive reviews but, unfortunately, I didn't enjoy this recipe. I went according to the recipe except for a few adjustments suggested by others. I used butter instead of shortening and I added 1 1/2 tsp of nutmeg and cinnamon each. I used white sugar for the full amount instead of part brown, part white. I also used four very ripe bananas. Unlike a lot of people I thought it needed more sugar. It tasted bland and doughy. As soon as it hit my mouth it turned into a huge ball of dough. My husband, who also loves banana bread, thought it was doughy as well. I had to cook it longer than the recommended time which ended up being an hour and 25 mins; it wasn't done at the recommended time. I thought about making it again with a few alterations but I don't think I will. My husband's co-worker's banana nut bread tasted a lot better. I'll be using her recipe next time.

Pineapple Cobbler

Reviewed: Mar. 14, 2011
I made this recipe looking for a way to use pineapple in a dessert. This cobbler is sooo good :-). I did like some other users and used only half the amount of butter. Also, to cut down on the sweetness, I don't use the recommended amount of brown sugar, nor do I use the cherries. I just sprinkle a little brown sugar before and after I drop the pineapples in. It still came out a little sweet so I will reduce the sugar next time. I also make this in a smaller dish (9x9) so that it's a little thicker/fluffier. This cobbler is perfect with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream. The whole family loves it so it's a keeper :-)
