Mini Frittatas

Reviewed: Feb. 18, 2013
Not bad, but the cumin is over powering, too strong. I used fresh spinach and made a big frittata. I don`t konw if I will make it again. My husband didn`t care for it.

Sliced Tomatoes with Fresh Herb Dressing

Reviewed: Aug. 16, 2012
We thought it was ok ... I used half the garlic and that was still pretty strong! Could use a little balsamic vinegar ...

Magpie's Barbeque Sauce

Reviewed: Jul. 23, 2012
Pretty good recipe! Too much vinegar though. I doubled the recipe (minus more vinegar) to thin out the vinegar, liked that better! Otherwise very nice with the ginger, soy sauce and seasonings. I will use this sauce on short ribs on the weekend.

Indiana-Style Corn Dogs

Reviewed: Jul. 15, 2012
Not bad ... the batter didn't have quite a strong enough taste for me (but my son loved it) and I had to use more flour to thicken it up a hair. They definitely needed to be deep fryed longer. All-in-all a good recipe!

Creamy Corn Soup

Reviewed: Jul. 11, 2012
This is definitely a keeper ... with a couple changes to my taste! I added a little chili paste to pep it up some ... and I used frozen corn since I really don't care for the taste of canned corn. I also pureed the soup and then added an additional cup of corn so that it would have whole kernels.

Honey White Loaves

Reviewed: Jul. 4, 2012
This bread is really good. The crust was crunchy and the inside nice and fluffy! I do have a trick to make the crust crunchy though .... after 10 minutes of baking I spray the bread/oven with water about 4 times ... then again after 10 minutes ... 6 Minutes and a last time after another 6 Minutes, then it bakes in peace for 5 more minutes. The steam that is created through the water dries up the crust and makes it really crunchy.

Orange Vinaigrette Dressing

Reviewed: Jul. 2, 2012
Nice dressing! Fruity, not too sweet, good with the pepper ... I think I will reduce a cup of orange juice first next time, to give it a little more orange juice taste. Will keep this recipe!

Memphis Rub

Reviewed: Feb. 27, 2012
Tried the rub yesterday on some beef steaks. I did add cumin, oregano, thyme and chili powder like suggested in another review. I didn't have onion powder so I used 3 teaspoons of onion salt and omitted the salt. I also used a spicy paprika and omitted the cayenne pepper and I omitted the MSG. I will definitely use this rub more often!

Chicken Chimichangas with Sour Cream Sauce

Reviewed: Feb. 3, 2012
The meat was really yummy with the seasonings. I don't care for the warm sourcream. Like it cold ... like on Tacos. I served the Chimichangas with lettuce, tomatoes and Salsa.

Chicken Milano

Reviewed: Jan. 4, 2012
Really good!!! though I did change a few minor things ... I only had sundried tomatoes in oil, (didn't have other ones) ... I added dried basil to the cream sauce and let it cook with it ... I added a squirt of tomato paste to the gravy and more cream towards the end ... then I thickened it a little with flour/water (ofcourse ... got too thin with the extra cream). I also seasoned the chicken breasts with italian seasoning before cooking them. I served them with wide noodles and fresh carrots.
