Well I'm in the midst of a concerted effort to lose weight and get in shape for my wedding in October, while eating delicious food and adjusting to life in the South. (I'm originally from Kansas)
My favorite things to cook
I LOVE to bake, but I'm really getting into cooking all kinds of things. I especially like to cook salmon with various fruit/soy glazes, my secret broccoli cheddar chicken, anything involving Nutella, and I'm currently especially obsessed with cake pops.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My family is Italian, Sicilian to be specific, so I'm generally influenced by that style of cooking. I'm known to use copious amounts of garlic in just about everything (side note, while in CA I went to the Gilroy Garlic Festival and fell in love with garlic ice cream of all things). Also, my mom is a fantastic baker so I got that from her.
My cooking triumphs
After loving broccoli cheddar chicken from Cracker Barrel, my fiance requested that I learn to cook that. I found some ideas online, but have since made it my own and I'm proud to say that both he and I prefer my recipe.
My cooking tragedies
I recently got a slow cooker and have been experimenting with using it...there have definitely been some tears. I tried broccoli beef in there the first time I used it and it turned out terrible! Dry and salty. I've since improved, thank goodness.
