I'm Ryan! I'm a single early twenties man who finds himself employed by the navy. I enjoy to cook very much and enjoy eating at least as much. I especially like to travel, especially to new places and also to places with large expanses of wilderness. I'm also an avid motorcyclist. In an unrelated note, my last name, Koch, is German for chef.
My favorite things to cook
I find all kinds of cooking rewarding but get a thorough kick out of finding new ways to use fruits and vegetables, baked desserts; particularly cookies (if only I could refrain from eating as many as I do).
My favorite family cooking traditions
My family's cookbook (not published or even written) is a bizarre schmorgesborg of related and unrelated dishes of questionable origin, notably: chili, springerle, lebkuchen, chicken dumpling stew, potato salad, various pies, a couple other traditional German dishes, and pretty much anything that's farmed in central-eastern Michigan.
My cooking triumphs
I'm always striving to cook something I haven't cooked before so, my triumphs are ever changing but, the things that I typically excel with are salads, cookies, breads, and chicken dishes.
My cooking tragedies
I once fluffed a mousse pretty well. There have been the occasional burned baking attempts.
