Heavenly Shortbread

Reviewed: Aug. 26, 2012
Made this for a strawberry pizza, everyone loved it! I added a half teaspoon of vanilla and half teaspoon of almond extract. I used the leftover dough to make thumbprint jam cookies. Definitely will make this again!

Delicious. For a healthier version, next time i will use half lite mayo and half nonfat plain yogurt.

Rick's Special Buttercream Frosting

Reviewed: May 25, 2011
This rating is actually for the customized version of this recipe- use "Dorothy's Special Buttercream Frosting"!!! It's just a variation of this one and it tastes wonderful and is perfect for piping without being too greasy.

Strawberry Cake from Scratch

Reviewed: May 25, 2011
This is one of my first cakes from scratch and it tasted delicious. It makes a ton of batter so a three tier cake (9inch rounds) is suggested. I put sliced strawberries and strawberry puree in the middle and covered it in "Dorothy's special buttercream." I also followed all the suggestions (sift flower, separate eggs, etc...) Yum!

Fruit Pizza

Easy and delicious! I did make my own golden oreo crust using 1 and a half packs of golden oreos. Just stick them in the food processor and mix with 5-6 tbs of melted butter. Press into the pan, bake 10 mins at 350. Everyone loved it!

Cake Balls

Reviewed: May 24, 2011
These were a hit at my end o the year summer BBQ! I followed the tips from some of the other reviews and let the cake cool before crumbling. Also, a half can of frosting was definitely enough, you might want to even add less if you want a more cake like texture. I used chocolate coating instead of bars but next time I think I'll use semisweet chocolate to offset the sweetness of the cake and frosting mixture. Oh and I like mine frozen! Just store them in a ziploc or tupperware. it's also nice to have a cool summer treat on hand for when friends come over.

Beer Spice Cake

Reviewed: Mar. 27, 2011
These were nice and fluffy but without frosting, be warned that for a cake these were not sweet at all. However, paired with the "allspice cream cheese frosting" they were quite delicious. Maybe next time I'll add a little white sugar next time. I also doubled the recipe and it made 30 cupcakes baked at 18 minutes.

Allspice Cream Cheese Frosting

Reviewed: Mar. 27, 2011
Yummy! I followed the recipe pretty much except added 1/2 a tsp of allspice and then a 1/4 tsp of cinnamon instead of using all allspice. And we heavily frosted 30 cupcakes and had 2 cups left, so it makes a lot!
