Chocolate Flan Cake

Reviewed: Aug. 31, 2013
This cake is sooooooooo good !!! Made it exactly as written. Used a rose pattern bunt cake pan. Only had to bake it for 1 hour and 25 min, I let it sit in the hot water after I took it out of oven for another 10 min like I do when making regular flan. I then transferred the bunt pan to a wire rack let cool for about 15 min then inverted. I made this for a picnic we were having the next day so letting it cool and sit overnight worked perfect for me. I bought a foil roasting pan to hold the water and the bunt pan worked out perfect. You wont be disappointed in this flan cake !!

Baked Flan

Reviewed: Feb. 28, 2012
They need more stars for this recipe. Ive eaten flan all over the caribbean and this one is by far the best !! I use only whole milk in this recipe and as one reviewer said Eagle brand sweetened condensed milk is really sweet I prefer Carnation brand. Also when I melt the sugar I use 1 cup of sugar, 2 tablespoons water and 1 drop of lemon juice, this helps the sugar not harden as quickly so you can get it in your souffle' dishes or casserole dish and swirl it around before the sugar hardens. This is absolutly the best flan recipe ever. Thank You for sharing !!!

Chicken Tinga Tostados

Reviewed: Apr. 23, 2012
I have made this recipe twice. The first time I made it exactly as written, as written its a 5 star. The second time I made this in the slow cooker. Used boneless chicken breasts, added a couple cans drained black beans and used half a can of the peppers. I also added a cinnamon stick as one reviewer suggested. This is the best shredded chicken you will ever eat.

Bacon Cheeseburger Meatloaf

Reviewed: Aug. 31, 2012
I followed the recipe "almost" exactly as written. I had 90/10 ground beef in freezer so I used that, when I was mixing the meat it was really wet, so as another reviewer suggested I added a little more bread crumbs. I added a small chopped onion to the mixture also. I put half the cheese in the meat mixture, and saved the other half. I spooned half the meat into the loaf pan, sprinkled the rest of the cheese on top, then put remaining meat on top. Then spooned the rest of the ketchup/mustard mixture on top. Cooked for 1 hour. Sprinkled the fried onions on top and cooked another 30 min. It came out great !!!!!!!!! Like the one reviewer said, you will get a "gooey" center. It tastes like a bacon cheeseburger. Excellent !!!!!!!!!! Will make again

Cheddar Bay Biscuits

Reviewed: Mar. 4, 2012
These were great bisquits. I made them once as written, they were a very good start may be 2 stars. Second attempt: I read the reviews and added 1/8 teaspoon old bay, and then the garlic and onion powder to the bisquick, I also probably trippled the cheese and also used whole milk instead of water. Made up the butter sauce exactly as written. I used an icecream scoop for the drop biscuits and when they were done I put the butter mixture on them and put them back in oven for 3 min. These bisquits are exactly like Red Lobster's !!! Take the hints from the other reviewers and you will be in love with this recipe !!!

Stromboli

Reviewed: Dec. 27, 2012
I use a 1 pound package of fresh bread dough from my local bakery. Cut it in half and roll out 2 pieces. My husband likes plain toppings and I like a ton of toppings. For his stromboli I add pizza sauce to half, pepperoni, crumbled bacon, sliced mozz and sliced provolone (3 slices of each), folded it over, pinched the dough closed and brushed on EVOO and sprinkled italian seasoning. The next one I put sauce on half, pepperoni, crumbled cooked bacon, black olives, bananna peppers, sliced mozz and sliced provolone (3 slices of each). Again, brushed with EVOO and sprinkled with italian seasoning. Cut 3 slits in each. Put them on their own cookie sheet lined with parchment paper. Cooked at 425 for 30 min. These are out of this world good. (I rotate the stromboli in oven half way through cooking). Whats great about this recipe is that you can make an individual stromboli for everyone and stuff it with whatever they like. Make this all the time. Love this as an easy dinner. It is even better the next day cold. Try it and enjoy !!

Cream Cheese Squares

Reviewed: Jan. 21, 2012
If I could give this 10 stars I would. This is excellent and so easy to make. I halved the recipe just to try it out, followed recipe exactly as written for the first batch. THEN HAD TO MAKE a second batch of this wonderful dessert and put Blueberry preserve's on top of bottom layer of crust then spread cream cheese on top, oh my goooodness, made it even better than the first batch !!! This is beyond good !! Can not wait to try raspberry preserve for the third batch. Thank You so very much for sharing !!

Oven-Roasted Asparagus

Reviewed: Apr. 22, 2014
I made this along with another asparagus dish (asparagus with junk from this site) because I wasn't sure which way our guests would like the asparagus. I followed the recipe except I cut down the sea salt in half, I think if you use regular table salt you can use as much as stated in the original recipe but sea salt gives it a way better flavor. I also only had parmesan & Romano cheese blend in fridge. I cleaned the asparagus drizzled with olive oil in a bowl then added the rest of the ingredients after I put the asparagus onto a cookie sheet lined with tin foil. I rolled the asparagus in salt, pepper and garlic then sprinkled the parm and roasted in oven at 325 for about 18 min. This was a huge hit, every spear was devoured. Thank You for sharing

Mijo's Slow Cooker Shredded Beef

Reviewed: Sep. 30, 2012
Excellent as written !!! I have made this twice and the first time made it exactly as written but felt it needed just a little more spice. So the second time I added the following to the recipe: Used 1.5 cups of cola instead of beer (really like the flavor of the cola better), 1 cup of beef bouillon (used the cube and disolved it in hot water), a couple shakes of cumin, ancho chili powder and crushed red pepper flakes, 15 oz can diced tomatos, 3/4 can diced green chilis (dont like chopping my own jalapinos) and 2 cinnamon sticks (cinnamon gives it a more traditional mexican flavor). Rubbed the dry ingrediants on top of a 3.5 pound chuck roast put the roast in the crock pot then dumped all the wet ingrediants in the crock pot. The liquid did just cover the roast which helps prevent the meat from drying out, left the slow cooker on low for about 11 hours, took the meat out and shredded it with 2 forks. I then spooned some of the liquid from the crock pot over the meat. I decided to make quesadillas with cheese served them with sour cream on top and it was out of this world good. This recipe is a keeper and probably the best one on this site for shredded beef (Ive tried a few). Thanks for sharing and enjoy !!!

Spaghetti Pie

Reviewed: Mar. 4, 2012
This is a great way to make spashetti night different. I did not use the reduced fat cream cheese and sour cream used the regular because that's what I had. I also did not have egg substitute, I used 2 eggs and a tiny bit of heavy cream and this seemed to give the eggs the consistancy of egg beaters. I let the spaghetti cool like one reviewer suggested and then mixed in the eggs and parm. If you put the eggs in when spaghetti is hot the eggs will begin to cook. I pressed the spaghetti into the pan and decided to use spaghetti sauce I already had made in the freezer. The sauce had ground beef, mushrooms and some bacon in it (sort of like a goulash) poured that on top of the spaghetti. (I think you have to have meat in this dish). Baked it for about 45 min until it was hot then topped with the mozz. cheese. It came out great, and like I already said this was a nice change to regular spaghetti. Thanks for sharing.

Loosemeat Sandwiches III

Reviewed: Sep. 16, 2011
OK, the reviewer who suggested using coca-cola is a genius !!!!!!!!!!!!! It makes this recipe wonderful. I added a couple shakes of worcestershire to it and its amazing. So simple yet so good. I also use panini rolls instead of regular hamburger rolls, serve it open faced with melted velveeta or cheese wiz (like the cheese wiz the best). Excellent recipe Thank You !!
