Chicken Tinga Tostados

Reviewed: Apr. 23, 2012
I have made this recipe twice. The first time I made it exactly as written, as written its a 5 star. The second time I made this in the slow cooker. Used boneless chicken breasts, added a couple cans drained black beans and used half a can of the peppers. I also added a cinnamon stick as one reviewer suggested. This is the best shredded chicken you will ever eat.

These are very salty. May be without the onion soup mix would be better. I made these exactly as written and they are very salty.

Quick and Easy Taco Dip

Reviewed: Apr. 16, 2012
This dip is so simple and easy. I doubled it for a large party and it was a big hit. I did stir in some cheddar into the creamcheese just for some color. I topped it with sliced black olives and cheddar again just for presentation and color, served it with triscuits and it was a fast, easy and simple dish.

Cheddar Bay Biscuits

Reviewed: Mar. 4, 2012
These were great bisquits. I made them once as written, they were a very good start may be 2 stars. Second attempt: I read the reviews and added 1/8 teaspoon old bay, and then the garlic and onion powder to the bisquick, I also probably trippled the cheese and also used whole milk instead of water. Made up the butter sauce exactly as written. I used an icecream scoop for the drop biscuits and when they were done I put the butter mixture on them and put them back in oven for 3 min. These bisquits are exactly like Red Lobster's !!! Take the hints from the other reviewers and you will be in love with this recipe !!!

Spaghetti Pie

Reviewed: Mar. 4, 2012
This is a great way to make spashetti night different. I did not use the reduced fat cream cheese and sour cream used the regular because that's what I had. I also did not have egg substitute, I used 2 eggs and a tiny bit of heavy cream and this seemed to give the eggs the consistancy of egg beaters. I let the spaghetti cool like one reviewer suggested and then mixed in the eggs and parm. If you put the eggs in when spaghetti is hot the eggs will begin to cook. I pressed the spaghetti into the pan and decided to use spaghetti sauce I already had made in the freezer. The sauce had ground beef, mushrooms and some bacon in it (sort of like a goulash) poured that on top of the spaghetti. (I think you have to have meat in this dish). Baked it for about 45 min until it was hot then topped with the mozz. cheese. It came out great, and like I already said this was a nice change to regular spaghetti. Thanks for sharing.

Devil's Food Sheet Cake

Reviewed: Feb. 28, 2012
Excellent Devil's food cake. Made batter exactly as written. Made these as cupcakes and decided to make a cream cheese filling for them, I took 8 oz creamcheese, 2 cups sugar, 1 egg and 3 oz chocolate chips and 3 oz white chocolate chips (thats what I had on hand). Mixed the creamcheese, egg and sugar then folded in chocolate chips. Filled cupcake pan 3/4 full then spooned in heaping tablespoon of creamcheese filling. I also used dark cocoa for the frosting because I ran out of regular the dark cocoa was great in the frosting. These came out excellent.

Baked Flan

Reviewed: Feb. 28, 2012
They need more stars for this recipe. Ive eaten flan all over the caribbean and this one is by far the best !! I use only whole milk in this recipe and as one reviewer said Eagle brand sweetened condensed milk is really sweet I prefer Carnation brand. Also when I melt the sugar I use 1 cup of sugar, 2 tablespoons water and 1 drop of lemon juice, this helps the sugar not harden as quickly so you can get it in your souffle' dishes or casserole dish and swirl it around before the sugar hardens. This is absolutly the best flan recipe ever. Thank You for sharing !!!

Hearty Hamburger Soup

Reviewed: Feb. 19, 2012
I thought this hamburger soup was very good. Simple to throw together for an easy dinner with salad and bread. I put this in the crock pot on high for about 5 hrs. I added some cumin, red pepper flakes and 4 beef boulion cubes because like some other reviewers said it was a bit bland. I also added more barley than the recipe called for so I added a little more beef stock. During the last couple hours of cooking I decided to throw in some frozen corn. Adding some extra spices gives it a nice flavor and the extra barley makes it a thick stew-soup.

If I could give this 10 stars I would. This is excellent and so easy to make. I halved the recipe just to try it out, followed recipe exactly as written for the first batch. THEN HAD TO MAKE a second batch of this wonderful dessert and put Blueberry preserve's on top of bottom layer of crust then spread cream cheese on top, oh my goooodness, made it even better than the first batch !!! This is beyond good !! Can not wait to try raspberry preserve for the third batch. Thank You so very much for sharing !!

Party Kielbasa

Reviewed: Jan. 14, 2012
I just put this into my slow cooker on low an hour ago and the sauce taste's great. I used the cocktail weiners and added just a couple dashes of worcestershire sauce as recommended by another reviewer, the sauce has not even melded together and it taste's great. Hopefully eveyone at the cocktail party I am going to tonight will like this as much as I do. Thanks for a great recipe.

Pasta Primavera with Italian Turkey Sausage

Reviewed: Nov. 29, 2011
This pasta dish is wonderful !!!!!!! I added 3 tablespoons of cream cheese to it right before serving like another reviewer suggested and it was out of this world good. I also didnt feel like chopping tomatoes so I used canned diced tomatoes (fresh would have been better but in a pinch the canned was also good). And I used mild pork italian sausage instead of turkey sausage. Will make again often, cant wait til the summer when I can use fresh veggies from the garden. Thank You for sharing.
