Pittsburgh Chipped Ham Barbecues

Reviewed: Jul. 6, 2006
I haven't made these yet, but I know they are going to be great. I grew up in Castle Shannon right outside of Pgh. and remember being surprised when I was a kid that I liked the barbecues when I found out there was relish in them. I have been buying jars of the Isaly's barbecue sauce for my barbecues but have been wanting to make a homemade batch. Thanks so much for the authentic recipe!

Hot Fudge Ice Cream Bar Dessert

Reviewed: May 12, 2006
Easy, delicious dessert. Some people rave about the work I went to to make layers. They about fell over when I told them what it's made from!

Pumpkin Spice Cake with Cinnamon Cream Cheese Frosting

Reviewed: Nov. 1, 2005
I prepared this cake for my father-in-law's birthday, and everyone loved it. I changed the frosting by using 8 oz. cream cheese and 4 cups of confectioners' sugar. My cake mix wasn't the kind with pudding in it, but it was still moist (I had refrigerated the cake overnight).

Corn and Zucchini Melody

Reviewed: Sep. 1, 2005
This was excellent and very easy to make. I used my homegrown sweet corn that I had frozen last year, and it was great, so I can imagine how wonderful it would be with fresh corn!

Peach Cream Pie I

Reviewed: Aug. 15, 2005
Since something obviously went very wrong with my pies considering all the great reviews (though a couple did mention spillovers), I will give it the highest rating, but mine were a disaster and I won't be able to taste them! My friend gave me fresh peaches from her tree and I had enough for two pies. Within ten minutes of putting them in the oven, I notice smoke coming from the top of the stove. They were already spilling over! Ten minutes later, there were flames. I highly recommend using a deep dish with this pie. I am not new to pie baking and have had pies cook over before, but never like this. What a waste of homegrown peaches (I'm feeling sorry for myself). I'm sure if you use a big enough pan, they would be wonderful.

Zucchini Brownies

My family loved these! Unfortunately, they sort of screwed up my Atkins diet, I couldn't resist them! Yummy way to get zucchini into the kids.

Brown Sugar Meatloaf

Reviewed: Feb. 17, 2003
This is the best meatloaf recipe I have ever tried! I used 1/2 ground beef and 1/2 ground venison. I had my in-laws over for dinner and they loved it! I didn't think my husband would like the sweetness, but he loved it too. Super easy, too.

Ham, Potato, and Cheese Soup

Reviewed: Oct. 28, 2002
This was a great recipe! My mother says all the chefs she watches on TV saute' celery and onion before they add water to their soups, so I did the same. I also added a couple chicken boullion cubes, and since I only had about 3/4 lb. of Velveeta, added some cheddar cheese along with it. My daughter who is a soup fantatic loved it!
