So, I have decided since I am a supporting member that I would start using this account to it's best advantage and actually use the blog space that's provided and the best use of this blog is to teach. I know I wish I had had something like this when I was a young mother first learning how to… MORE

Erin and Winter
About this Cook
My name is Erin and I live in Everett, WA. I have lived here most of my life with the exception of a five year stint in Maine that I won't be repeating. I have three daughters, one studying to be paralegal, one is a weapons specialist in the Navy, and my eleven year old who I am home schooling and loving every minute of it.
My favorite things to cook
I love to make comfort foods in the winter and light fare in the summer. I love working with fresh foods of all kinds and trying new recipes and techniques are exciting.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My family is Hungarian and I love working with that cuisine.
My cooking triumphs
Pie crusts!! It took me a while but I managed to master the art of the pie crust!
My cooking tragedies
Oh my goodness, when you spend years trying to perfect your skills in the kitchen, 1000 words just isn't enough to describe the multitude of disasters. lol

Quick and Easy Ketchup
Very good recipe, quick, easy, and very tasty. However, to those who are avoiding sugar, to be clear, any kind of juice concentrate has A LOT of sugar. Concentrate refers to the way it is made. The fruit is put into a huge maceration chamber where several bags of granulated sugar are added to the fruit and left there for sometimes months at a time. The reason why this is done is so that these companies can offer the product year round. Bacteria and other pathogens will not grow in sugar, so they're able to pile on crop after crop of fruit without a loss. So don't think there is no sugar in this recipe. There is some.

Marinated Flank Steak
This recipe is amazing and easily customized for other flavors with small tweaks here and there. Whole family was impressed with this. A must save and a do-over for sure,

Habanero Hellfire Chili
WHEW!!! Eyes watered, nose ran, face turned red, started to sweat, and a gallon of milk. Yeah baby...now THIS is chili. Do not change a thing, this is the perfect recipe. You can reduce the peppers if you don't want it as hot, it would still be amazing.
