Apple Cake IV

Reviewed: Mar. 29, 2003
Very good cake to snack on. I used red delicious apples that were getting a little soft. I added raisins & pecans to the apples and mixed them with a little sugar & cinnamon mixture before adding to the batter. Would definitely make this cake again.

Hamburger Potato Casserole

Reviewed: Mar. 29, 2003
This was a great casserole. My husband said, "this is really delicious" after all three helpings. I added some sour cream to the soup & milk which gave it a richer flavor. I forgot to add salt & pepper but we didn't even miss it. I baked it for 1 1/2 hours and the potatoes were perfect.

Honey Pineapple Chicken

Reviewed: Mar. 26, 2003
I was looking for something a little different to do with boneless chicken breasts and this was an excellent change of pace. It fried up beautifully and tasted great.

Baked Pork Chops I

Reviewed: Mar. 24, 2003
I used thick sliced boneless chops and made my own bread crumbs mixed with Italian seasoning, garlic powder, onion salt, & parsley. My husband thought these were the absolute best pork chops I had ever made. They were so tender that you didn't need a knife to cut them. Thanks for a great recipe.

Two Tier Strawberry Pie

Reviewed: Mar. 24, 2003
Fabulous pie! My 21-year old son said it is the best strawberry he ever tasted. I used strawberry cream cheese instead of plain and the outcome was almost like a strawberry mousse. I didn't have any grenadine so I used more water and added red food coloring. My berries were huge so I cut them into quarters or eighths before mixing them into the thickening. I also used a graham cracker crust this time but will probably try it with a regular pie crust the next time. Either way, it was a hit at our house.

Mexican Casserole

Reviewed: Mar. 18, 2003
Excellent! This was a definite hit at our house. The leftovers went home with our college age son. I did not use the chilies but instead added about 1 1/2 cups of salsa to soup mixture. This gave the casserole more flavor but did not make it too soupy. I also spooned a bit of salsa on top of the casserole before baking it. It should set for about 15 minutes before serving. We enjoyed this with spanish rice and corn.

Cranberry, Sausage and Apple Stuffing

Reviewed: Mar. 17, 2003
This recipe was a wonderful change of pace to the traditional bread stuffing recipe that I've always used. I didn't have the Italian sausage so I used ground pork sausage and it tasted fine. I served this with a turkey breast and all the trimmings. My husband and picky father-in-law both loved it. Thanks. I'll be making this again.

Dilly Cheese Wheat Bread

Reviewed: Mar. 16, 2003
I made this bread yesterday and it turned out very well. I followed the recipe to the letter with the exception of baking the bread in my oven. I went ahead and let it bake in the bread machine and it turned out great. I'm unsure what the last reviewer meant because the amount of yeast is listed clearly in the recipe.

Best Big, Fat, Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookie

Reviewed: Dec. 20, 2002
These are the BEST chocolate chip cookies I have ever made. My husband says they are the best thing since running water! They are so chewy and the chips are melting perfectly. I'll never try another chocolate chip cookie recipe.

Swedish Angel Crisps

Reviewed: Dec. 12, 2002
This is a wonderful recipe. The cookies are nutty and delicious. I rolled mine in colored sugar to make them more festive for holiday gifts. I also used 1 cup of finely chopped walnuts. It seemed to need more nuts because the dough is soft. As my last pan is baking, I am mixing up another turn because I know I'll need more of these.

Pumpkin Cheese Bread II

Reviewed: Dec. 11, 2002
I made this recipe today to give as a gift but my husband got into 1 loaf first. Now I am making more. Each time I try a new recipe on this website I think it couldn't get any better but this one is absolutely tops. It makes a nice presentation and tastes wonderful. We love the orange flavor in the cream cheese filling. It was easy to make but looks & tastes like I'm a gourmet cook!

Apricot Cream Cheese Thumbprints

Reviewed: Dec. 7, 2002
These cookies make a lovely presentation. I tried them with both apricot & red raspberry preserves. Both were very good. After baking a few pans, I saw the suggestion to roll the dough in confectioner's sugar before baking. This made them easier to work with. I will make these cookies again.

White Chocolate and Cranberry Cookies

Reviewed: Nov. 25, 2002
These are a yummy treat which we all loved. I used vanilla instead of brandy and added 1/2 cup of chopped pecans. I also doubled the recipe as others had suggested and I'm very glad I did. These will have to be hidden if I want to keep them until Christmas!

Creamy Coleslaw

This is my favorite way to serve cole slaw. We love the flavor of the Dijon mustard with the sweetness of the raisins. I add a little sugar to the dressing.

Spicy Rapid Roast Chicken

Reviewed: Oct. 17, 2002
This was very flavorful and tender. It reminded me of rotisserie chicken. The leftovers made great chicken sandwiches. I had no problems with the juices splattering & causing the oven to smoke. The juices, however, made a wonderful gravy.

Beef Stew IV

Reviewed: Oct. 17, 2002
This reminds me of an old recipe for beef stew that I had lost. Thanks for giving it back to me. I added 1 1/2 cups of tomato juice & 2 beef bouillon cubes and omitted the corn. This was delicious.

Apple Dumpling Cake

Reviewed: Oct. 8, 2002
This is a very easy, yet delicious recipe. I cut the recipe in half & baked it in a 9" baking dish. The next time I make it, I won't cut it in half. It's also very good served warm with milk.

Lemon Pepper Green Beans

Reviewed: Oct. 8, 2002
This is a wonderful alternative to plain green beans. My husband loved these. The crunchy almonds are delicious with the tangy lemon pepper. I'll be making this again soon & plain to incorporate it into my Thanksgiving dinner.
