About this Cook
I recently celebrated my 38th wedding anniversay. We have two grown children and nine grandchildren. We also have a yellow lab. We enjoy camping and I like to read, scrapbook and stamp as well as bake. I love cooking family dinners for the entire group.
My favorite things to cook
Holiday cookies and treats Cookies and bars Casseroles Thanksgiving dinner Sweet breads
My favorite family cooking traditions
I remember Mom always baking Christmas cut-out cookies for us and I love baking many kinds of cookies and making candy especially at Christmas time. I have a very dear friend that I have made holiday treats with for over 20 years.
My cooking triumphs
Finally perfected Thanksgiving turkey with all the trimmings.
My cooking tragedies
I'm not a good yeast bread/roll baker but would like to practice more to improve

Mama's Potato Salad
Just a hint.......if you boil potaoes in their jacket they are soooo much tastier. Simply boil them whole till tender, cool until you can easily handle them and peel the skins off. Depends on your kitchen experience as to whether it takes a wee bit longer to peel them this way, but if you try it once, you'll notice a BIG difference in the flavor. Also I don't add pickles of any kind to potato salad, but that's just to MY liking.

Mmm-Mmm Better Brownies
Yum!! This recipe doubled and baked in a 9X13 inch pan is what I've baked for years. None better! Delicious dusted with powdered sugar or topped with frosting of 1/2 cup peanut butter melted with 3/4 cup choc. chips and then refrigerated for 1/2 hour to set. The best thing is the top doesn't crack off and you can cut these into bars nicely without the knife getting all gummed up and crumbling your squares.
