About this Cook
I live in Ventura with my wonderful husband and love to cook for my friends and sisters are my biggest fans and my biggest challenge is making something my husband likes
My favorite things to cook
My favorite things to cook are savory appetizers and main dishes. I love complicated dishes and spending all day in the kitchen.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My parents are both excellent, experimental cooks. Lumpias are a family favorite and my favorite guilty pleasure(they are fried)
My cooking triumphs
I make a great Thanksgiving dinner! (the stuffing is a recipe I stole from my sister, Jasmine)
My cooking tragedies
Too many to list. My latest was a recipe I put together that involved wine poached pears, homemade sausage and braised cabbage all stuffed inside some homemade bread- it was awful!

Lemon Blueberry Bread
Great bread recipe! I used 4 T. of lemon juice and about 3 T. of lemon zest because I LOVE lemon and I skipped the blueberries and walnuts but I did add 1 t. of ground lavender (done with a mortar and pestle) but this texture of this bread was fantastic! I made a glaze of lemon juice and powdered sugar and brushed that on right out of the oven and again after ten minutes. I garnished with more lemon zest and dried lavender. I think this basic bread could be flavored to become any number of breads i.e. orange/cranberry

Lemon Yogurt Muffins
These are delicious!! I did not add the recommended cinnamon, ginger and nutmeg but I did add a dash of cinnamon and ginger. For the yogurt I added one of lemon yogurt and one of honey Greek yogurt (I doubled the recipe as recommended and I got 22 muffins). I added lots of lemon juice and zest because I LOVE lemon!! I will make these again!

Lavender Shortbread Cookies
These were easy to make and tasty but they tasted more like chamomile tea and just lemon and lavender. I halved the recipe and rolled into logs and sliced before baking and I still netted about 4 dozen 3" cookies. I will make again but I think I'll add more lemon and lavender and leave out the mint (the mint was really good but I think it's what made them taste like chamomile).
