I was trained by my dad since I was a kid to cook. My mum was a nurse (who need to work on shifts)that's why our siblings and including my dad knew how to cook. My dad only taught me the basics of food preparation and cooking. The interest in cooking was inside me (perhaps). I love to see the satisfaction of my family members' faces when they tried my meals!
My favorite things to cook
As I am Asian, my cooking can't live without garlic, ginger, five spice powder and soy sauce. These are very common things found in Asia and even South East Asia. My favourite things to cook will be chicken meat (especially chicken thigh meat) and omelette. Chicken thigh meat in Japanese Shiitake mushrooms and ginger cooked with soy sauce is one of my favourite dish. This dish is so versatile that you can a) stir fry it, b) bake it or even c) steam it!
My favorite family cooking traditions
We normally dine on steamed food and stir fry food. Deep fry food is a thing in the past. Steam fish with ginger and soy sauce, stir fry vegetables and maybe an omelette ( ofcourse with rice!)will be a good meal for me
My cooking triumphs
Sometimes when I am still skeptical in trying out new recipes, they might turn out tasty and nice! Normally I will cook something which I am confident in and they came out good.
My cooking tragedies
I was trying to manage to dishes at one time. I was broiling my chicken meat and on the other side of the kitchen I was frying my scrambled eggs. I was totally into the scrambled eggs as eggs get burnt easily. In the end I neglected the meat in the broiler and it tasted so tough that everyone refused to stomach it!!!
