I made this in a double batch, using a liter of Montepulciano D'Abruzzo, which I know is Italian,not Spainish, but what the heck. I used peach schnapps instead of triple sec, and instead of the traditional citrus, which makes it bitter if you leave it in too long, I drained a can of Dole tropical fruit, pureed it, then added it to the sangria, I also added about half of the juice. I sweetened with about 2 T sugar, and 1/4 c maraschino cherry juice, since the cherries just sink to the bottom anyway. I added the club soda to the glasses as we drank it...AWESOME!!
