One Bowl Chocolate Cake III

Reviewed: May 6, 2014
Absolutely fabulous chocolate cake recipe...and pair it with the fluffy bp frosting and they're just aren't words to describe the yumminess that occurs!! After reading reviews I did use strong coffee instead of plain boiling water. I will never use another chocolate cake recipe again!

Fluffy Peanut Butter Frosting

I made this today to go with the one bowl chocolate cake recipe and oh my goodness! I had absolutely no issues with the texture, it was super creamy and very easy to spread.

Ham and Cheese Picnic Bread

Reviewed: May 5, 2014
I've made this recipe as written and it's fabulously popular at pot lucks! Today however I had to change it up a bit due to lack of olives and pimentos (neither of which I'm crazy about anyway), but I did have a small jar of basic pesto. Let me tell you, this was just as yummy as any appetizer I've ever had in Italian restaurants. As it bakes, the olive oil from the pesto soaks the bottom of the loaf and let's it become a little crisp...Yumm! I do let my stand mixer do all of the kneading...not a big fan of the manual labor, lol.

Fry Bread Tacos II

Reviewed: Apr. 14, 2014
Rating is based on the bread alone...I used my normal taco fixins to top it. Before the second bread was out of the pan, there was a unanimous decision that it was wonderful...and that the taste resembled funnel cake without the sweet. So I rolled the rest of the dough out to about 1/16 th of an inch and cut into strips. Once brown we sprinkled half with powdered sugar and the other half with cinnamon sugar. I had a houseful of very happy kids!

Oaty Cereal Bars

Reviewed: Apr. 5, 2014
I'm on my second time making these in three days! Buttered 9x13 pan, 1 cup corn syrup, 2/3 c brown sugar, 1 cup crunchy pb, pinch of salt, 2 tsp vanilla, 10 cups of cereal (3 c Multigrain Cheerios, 3c Kix, and 4 c cocoa puffs). Once the syrup and sugar started bubbling around the edges, I timed one minute and then removed from the heat. Pressed into the pan using a sheet of waxed paper and allowed to cool before cutting. Once cool, cutting into bars is no problem. My next attempt will include oats, coconut, and chocolate chips...can't wait! Thank you for a wonderful base recipe!!

American Chop Suey II

Reviewed: Mar. 25, 2014
I grew up on this recipe and knew it as goulash, and it is a well loved dish in my home today. I give this recipe 4 stars as written (it lacks green peppers-->flavor). After reading reviews, I tried it with the following changes: added green peppers, used celery because I was out of onion, Worcestershire sauce, onion powder since I was out of onion, dropped one can of soup for a can of petit diced tomatoes, and added chopped pepperoni ... And oh my! Still the same comfort food feel as what I grew up with and have made for years, but the pepperoni bits really added a flavor that I hadn't realized it was missing!

Good Old Fashioned Pancakes

Reviewed: Mar. 2, 2014
Just finished breakfast and this recipe is a keeper. My intention was to make it as listed, however I found that I only had a pinch of salt (really? who runs out of salt?). The extra salt wasn't missed. The pancakes turned out light and fluffy and were thoroughly enjoyed. The only thing missing was fresh blueberries or raspberries to throw in before flipping....but there's always next weekend :) Happy pancaking!

To Die For Blueberry Muffins

Reviewed: Aug. 18, 2013
Made these yesterday morning for two giggly little girls..they loved them! Only alteration was using brown sugar in the topping...and I think one of the gigglers threw in an extra handful of blueberries. Love this recipe!! Looking forward to trying variations of fruit..the girls want to try banana chocolate chip..I'm betting it will be wonderful!

Pioneer Cut Dumplings from the 1800's

Reviewed: Jan. 12, 2013
I grew up eating fluffy drop dumplings while my hubby grew up with the flat rolled out kind. I have tried many times to mimick my mominlaws dumpling with no success, until today! And in fact, my 8 yr old says she likes mine better than granny's! I can't ask for more than that can I?
