http://tempuri.org?link=newWe're Back!  Our camping trip was no less than Spectacular!  We packed the car the night before and headed out the next morning.. now you know we only camp 45 minutes down the road at Dreher Island State Park ...we arrived at the park at 10:00 although check-in was not until 2:00!  The nice folks behind the desk let us get the show on the road!

The entire camp was set up in record time!  Jim and I have things down to a science when it comes to our camping vacations... he has his tasks and I have mine.  Yep  you guessed my tasks.. setting up the interior of the tent and the storing of the food! While Jim's is sitting by the ,not yet built, fire and taking in the view! Well somebody has to do it, that gorgeous view ain't gonna watch itself!

Anyhoo... on to the point of the blog.. The Grub!

Low country boil
Burgers and Dogs
Barbecue sandwiches
Baked beans
Seafood omelets
Grilled Chicken
Onion Sausage and campfire potatoes

The food was amazing... I swear that cooking out of doors adds a litlle extra flavor to anything.. even the leftovers we brought home still taste of the fresh outdoors!  Oh I forgot one of my favorite Camp fare.. The almighty roasted Marshmallows!!! I don't know why... but those fluffy white pillows of sugar are absolutely Heaven when placed on a stick and held over a hot fire! Am I right?

Well we spent four glorious days and three very cold nights at our Little piece of paradise... doing pretty much nothing !  Recharging the old batteries and eating like royalty!  Now we did laugh alot and we had our campside dancing... we released several Chinese floating lanterns... without burning down the island!

All in All one of our best trips... We have already Booked our site and two others for a family camping trip with the boys and thier families... Gramma time with Molly and Damien, in April !

Your food sounds amazing! I must say camping right now would not appeal to me at all cause 45 minutes away from here it would still be 19 degrees in the morning. We seem to be bypassing fall. Have you ever made marshmallows? I ask because I was just thinking I should make some this year. A couple of years ago I made chocolate flavored ones dusted with cocoa powder and visions of your campfire roasted marshmallows made me think oh yummmmm that would taste so good right now!

Oh Terry - your food sounds great and I so wish I could have been camping! We winterized our camper this weekend, so I know I won't be going until at least March. :( Low Country Boil - yum, yum, yum! You are so right about the marshmallows - most of the time we don't even mess with S'mores - just toast the 'mallows and eat up. Glad you had fun! And - Cat - I'm going to check into making marshmallows (chocolate ones!), too! I know 3 little kiddos (and a couple of big ones) that would love those!!

You would have frozen your patooties if you had camped near here. Your food sounds amazing. I don't like marshmallows very much, but on a stock, over a fire they become nectar of the gods.

Mother Ann and Terry, I still have the recipe for the chocolate ones if you would like it. I am not a candy maker but marshmallows aren't too hard. Funny, I am with BigShotsMom, I don't just eat marshmallows but roasted over a fire ooey gooey heaven :)

Hello Terry! I am getting hungry just reading your Camping Menu! I do think all food taste better when you are camping. What a great way to spend some time with Hubby Jim! I also know the pain of not posting photos.

About Me
I was a working mother of 2 boys! I didn't have much time for cooking... now that the boys are grown and on their own... I have been enjoying learning and appreciating the art of cooking. I started with a day of baking with my mother in law and I was hooked! Not to mention my new stepkids... what was two... now is four! Our family is growing we now have a grandson, Damien, and one on the way! My grandson loves his visits with Gramma and Grampa...We spend quality time in the kitchen snd chronical our visits here on AR!
My favorite things to cook
I love to bake! It is my therapy...I love to buy and read all types of recipe books ( call me old fashion ) but it's fun to pick out 1 recipe in a new book and try it the day I get the book!
My favorite family cooking traditions
My husband and I have great times cooking meals together! When the kids come to visit we let them request their menu of choice. Funny twist... my two boys request Jim's culinary feasts... Jim's two request Stepmom's dinner delights! Works out fine at the end of the day!
My cooking triumphs
Check out my pics, the wedding cake? It was my 1st attempt at a wedding cake... can you believe it... I still can't!
My cooking tragedies
so many... hard to pick just one! but isn't that the joy of cooking?
