Weekends... Gotta Love Em!

Well as I sit here on Sunday evening... Jim watching football and I ... well I 'm recovering from a food filled weekend!  Isn't that what weekends are for?

We started with the seafood date night ... Progressed to barbecue after the college football games... onto Grilled burgers... Mushroom Swiss, with thin sliced red onion! What were we thinking this weekend? Not a bad choice of meal planning options ... just too many "Ultimate Yum Factor "... meals consumed!

Now we did share... remember on Friday we shared with the fur babies... on saturday we shared with my sweet Audrie and her Daddy ( this girl has such a grown up palate!)  And today we took my Dad the rest of the barbecue!  The burgers were just a treat for the two of us!

So... to counteract all the rich yum-a-liscious food that we so heartily gulped down... we put in our fall garden!  Well Jim put in our fall garden!  I was busy with the multidude of mums that had to be planted!  We are looking forward to Collards, Cabbage, Broccolli, Bibb lettuce, and Red cabbage!  What fun to go out back and pick your own produce... did I mention that our grocery keeps their produce department at 30 below? Brrrrrrr!

On a non food related note... but definately still Gramma related...

Jim and I have been searching for years for a cedar chest... antique preferrably... as a toy box for Damien's room at Gramma and Grampa's!  Damiens bedroom suite is an antique from his Great Grampa... it's the bedroom suite that Jim's dad had growing up!  So.. an Antique toy chest was the only option for the boy!

To top off a great food weekend... Bam... Antique Cedar Chest found!  Oh and there is Chocolate Pie!
Meager beginnings of the fall garden!

MA... We wanted to find a chest for so many years to keep those Damien Toys in... instead of the unsightly Blue Bin! Well it actually found us... saw it online and it was only 3 min. Down the road...I love it so much it is now in the living room ... that is where toys usually end up anyway ... right?

BigShotsMom has already moved in so I guess I have to sleep in the tent. I'll take my crab legs in a low country boil and a couple beers. ... How are Jim's knees doing?

He is now pain free but his range of motion is lacking! Now having pain on the right knee.... ugh... really don't want to go through that again

About Me
I was a working mother of 2 boys! I didn't have much time for cooking... now that the boys are grown and on their own... I have been enjoying learning and appreciating the art of cooking. I started with a day of baking with my mother in law and I was hooked! Not to mention my new stepkids... what was two... now is four! Our family is growing we now have a grandson, Damien, and one on the way! My grandson loves his visits with Gramma and Grampa...We spend quality time in the kitchen snd chronical our visits here on AR!
My favorite things to cook
I love to bake! It is my therapy...I love to buy and read all types of recipe books ( call me old fashion ) but it's fun to pick out 1 recipe in a new book and try it the day I get the book!
My favorite family cooking traditions
My husband and I have great times cooking meals together! When the kids come to visit we let them request their menu of choice. Funny twist... my two boys request Jim's culinary feasts... Jim's two request Stepmom's dinner delights! Works out fine at the end of the day!
My cooking triumphs
Check out my pics, the wedding cake? It was my 1st attempt at a wedding cake... can you believe it... I still can't!
My cooking tragedies
so many... hard to pick just one! but isn't that the joy of cooking?
