Surf And Surf....

We love Date Night at the Tripp House!  On the menu tonight is simply, Surf and more Surf!  How much do you love seafood? On the menu... Shrimp cocktail, Broiled Lobster tail ( the lobster did not make the photo shoot...straight from the broiler to the belly!) and Steamed Crablegs!

When Jim suggested seafood tonight for date night... I swear my four legged, fur babies, knew exactly what he was talking about.  Jim left the house this morning around 9:00 .... the cats were camping at the front door, awaiting his return, seriously, you can't make this stuff up!

Jim arrives home at appoximately 5:00 and I Meet my hard working Hubby at the door, with two cats a swarming ... I really think they smelled His cargo... at least two miles from the driveway!

Our local seafood market happens to be a little known " Hole in the wall" on the not so best side of town .... No you can't Google It.... there is no website to direct you to The Absolutely Best Seafood In Columbia, South Carolina!  Cliffton Seafood!   You can pick out your fish of choice and the good folk will cook to your specifications! You walk into this establishment and all you smell is seafood heaven!  Not to mention the shrimp... crawfish,, and my absolute favorite, Crablegs!  ( I swear... my second child was composed of 90% Crabmeat.. that was back when they actually had affordable " All you can eat " restaurants!  )  I might be the sole reason they don't exist anymore ... I ate my weight ...on any given night , while growing my last born son inside ... he had to shift  quite often to accomodate the excessive cravings of the Snow Crab , All you can eat , Clusters!

Anyhoo... I have one happy Hubs and two Fat Happy Kitties, at the end of a very successfull date night at the Tripps! All tucked in and obviouly in an Happy Food Coma!  .... and as for myself... Get to  love the good life of... Hi Present!... Meet my Past!

Still loving Date Night after all these years!

Hi Terry! Being born and raised a southern California girl, oh how I miss the fresh seafood! My Dad had a little hole-in-the-wall seafood market he would go to on the "other side of the tracks." Nothing but fresh every day. Living in Idaho is total deprivation. Your fur babies look like they enjoyed date night too!

Hi Terry! Your date night sounds great - nothing better than seafood! We do "sea-fests" often here. In fact yesterday we went to the West Side Market in Cleveland and the seafood vendor had Chincoteague Oysters! Those are our favorites since we go to Chincoteague twice a year - so 3 dozen of those babies came home with us. When the kids were small we'd feed them hotdogs and Kraft Macaroni & Cheese (I know--- yuck! But they loved it, it was their special treat). Then they'd go to the playroom to play and Jon & I would have our Sea-Fest. Steve would sneak out to the dining room and stand by our chairs, mouth open, begging "a bite, please." Then "More bites" for the snow crablegs.

Hi Terry, I envy you just like Cookin' Cyn-living in Colorado I can't say that I have had the fresh seafood my Hubby and I had when we lived in Virginia. However, my hubby gets his fix from Red Lobster-not the same.

Hey cyn! Those little known seafood shops are the best! It's a little far to drive but not that too far for great seafood! The cats are still hovering around the fridge... they know there is leftovers hanging out in there!

Clifton Seafood? Right next to Food Fare and Green Park Plaza? On Decker Blvd? Sure! I've seen it! Wow, what a small world Google Earth makes! ... We don't buy much seafood because it is extremely expensive, here. If we do it's the cheap stuff like cod, tilapia and perch. However, every once in a while, I will pig out on it in a restaurant. Last year we were in NC and had fresh seafood very often. What a treat that was! We'll head back that-a-way some day.

MA.. don't even get me started on Oysters... My all time favorite! We can't get good local oysters here too often, but when there is we stock up! I love the story re: Steve I can just picture it now...

Lela.. yep we are living the good life near the coast! Jim and I have been discussing where to retire and Colorado was an option... your post is kinda making me rethink that possibility!

Mr. Harvey!!!! How have you been? And yes Google earth does make it a small world! Love that place! Next time you're in NC.. we gotta get together for some seafood! Hey there ain't nothing wrong with tilapia or perch... but then again one would be hard pressed to find a fish that I didn't like!

What handsome kitties! And very satisfied looking. Your dinner could only be more perfect if you had some sea scallops in there. Love seafood.

Cat... It was a wonderful night! We didn't find this seafood market until last year! Until then we had to purchase our seafood at the grocery! Just dosen't even compare to Cliffton!

About Me
I was a working mother of 2 boys! I didn't have much time for cooking... now that the boys are grown and on their own... I have been enjoying learning and appreciating the art of cooking. I started with a day of baking with my mother in law and I was hooked! Not to mention my new stepkids... what was two... now is four! Our family is growing we now have a grandson, Damien, and one on the way! My grandson loves his visits with Gramma and Grampa...We spend quality time in the kitchen snd chronical our visits here on AR!
My favorite things to cook
I love to bake! It is my therapy...I love to buy and read all types of recipe books ( call me old fashion ) but it's fun to pick out 1 recipe in a new book and try it the day I get the book!
My favorite family cooking traditions
My husband and I have great times cooking meals together! When the kids come to visit we let them request their menu of choice. Funny twist... my two boys request Jim's culinary feasts... Jim's two request Stepmom's dinner delights! Works out fine at the end of the day!
My cooking triumphs
Check out my pics, the wedding cake? It was my 1st attempt at a wedding cake... can you believe it... I still can't!
My cooking tragedies
so many... hard to pick just one! but isn't that the joy of cooking?
