So I'm settling in... getting back to my Two Rock roots...

As Audrie and I were sitting watching cartoons this morning, I hear a familiar request..." Oma... Can we bake ?" Well you know my reaponse to that... " Of course my sweet girl! What shall we bake?" With a sheepish grin and just one word,,,, "CHOCOLATE"! Well chocolate cake it is!

With all the high tech avaiabilty and Audrie being just three ... We tend to go old school! She loves going to the bookcase dedicated to just cookbooks, I have a few ya know! I love watching her peruse through the pages (even pausing on recipes without pictures). We finally dicide on our recipe o' the day...

 Light Chocolate -Buttermilk Bundt Cake!

My Girl has some serious baking skills! She has made so much progress In the kitchen over the years... Yes I know she is just three, almost four, but she has been baking since 18 months! Not only our Baked goods turn out great but the messes we make in the kitchen are getting less and less!

We are already picking recipes and decorating ideas for Halloween cupcakes... ! Enjoy the pics as Audrie bakes!!!

Her stepstool is the perfect height. I keep trying different things for my great niece, one is too tall, one too short, one wobbles. They are so much fun!

I'd have to say that Audrie picks perfect recipes! Anything with chocolate is perfect! She is a cutie.

Terry-nice to see you blogging again. Audrie-is becoming quite the baker! She has grown so much since last year. By the way-Would you share your recipe for the icing on the bundt cake? Audrie's cake looks so delicious. I made a bundt cake the other day and the glaze was not what I was looking for. I am lucky if I make 3 cakes a year. However, I discovered baking at high altitude can be a possibility. I am looking forward to some new Damien and little sister blogs from you Terry!

Thanks for the recipe Terry. I will have to try this because my hubby loves cake. (Even though I don't make it very often.)

About Me
I was a working mother of 2 boys! I didn't have much time for cooking... now that the boys are grown and on their own... I have been enjoying learning and appreciating the art of cooking. I started with a day of baking with my mother in law and I was hooked! Not to mention my new stepkids... what was two... now is four! Our family is growing we now have a grandson, Damien, and one on the way! My grandson loves his visits with Gramma and Grampa...We spend quality time in the kitchen snd chronical our visits here on AR!
My favorite things to cook
I love to bake! It is my therapy...I love to buy and read all types of recipe books ( call me old fashion ) but it's fun to pick out 1 recipe in a new book and try it the day I get the book!
My favorite family cooking traditions
My husband and I have great times cooking meals together! When the kids come to visit we let them request their menu of choice. Funny twist... my two boys request Jim's culinary feasts... Jim's two request Stepmom's dinner delights! Works out fine at the end of the day!
My cooking triumphs
Check out my pics, the wedding cake? It was my 1st attempt at a wedding cake... can you believe it... I still can't!
My cooking tragedies
so many... hard to pick just one! but isn't that the joy of cooking?
