It's that time again... We are going to pick up Damien on saturday! Our little love will be turning three years old on friday! Can you believe... I'm old enough to have a three year old grandson? Just kidding!

Well Damien is expecting a new baby brother or sister.. December 7th.... That means number two grandbaby for Jim and myself! Who Hoooo!

Now the news got me thinking of new projects we can do until.... and after... the baby comes !

This is one thing I found... or rather it found me! Stepping stones!;set=a.406053006097099.77016.158099100892492&type=1&ref=nf<

Jim and I just acquired a Emeril Lagasse Cookwear set that has a large paella pan... large oven proof and would make the perferct size stepping stones!

When Damien comes home with us after his birthday party on saturday... we are definately gonna try this... Can you imagine a patio for Mom and Dad... (or Gramma and Grampa) OK ... you know we're gonna have to do two sets!

The first stepping stone will be Damiens last footprints before he becomes a big brother... then the next one will be of his and his new siblings prints... side by side! Then every year we will make the two sets side by side and add to our patios! ( Maybe even a third set eventually... why do you think I chose the pealla pan...?)

I love this idea... I need to research a sealer to preserve this project for years and years... ! Any suggestions would be so welcome!

Anyhoo.... I can't wait till I get my little love back for a week! You know we will be in the kitchen... I promise a Damien blog with his adorable face!

sounds great. Will you be sacrificing the pan or is there a way to preserve it so you can use it to cook in again. I was thinking line it with saran wrap before putting in your medium. Have fun. These are the days to cherish. I am busy planning my 7 y.o. grandaughter's bday party Sunday. Both she and her brother always request that the party be at my house. I am flattered.

Hey CG, I gonna try one of Audries feet in an old pan and see before I sacrifice my new pan... but I think it will be ok... gonna use your suggestion of Alum. foil! I hope your Grandaughter has a great Birthday!!!!

Hi Terry-we made stepping stone out of cement when my kid were little and when we moved we took the stepping stone with us. As a teacher for many years, I made handprints with aluminum pie pans. It works as long as you get the large pie pans. I imagine the pie pan would work for you since you are baking at a low temp. I always place a cookie sheet under such projects just in case. As far as preserving the stone, would waterproof spray acrylic work?

BTW-I am sure you will have fun with Damien! Be sure to post pictures.

Lela.... I tried the recipe today with Audrie.... she hated the goo on her feet.. so we had to finally use her hand! It turned out pretty but not substantial... I think I'm going with the cement idea! It is so good to have a "Go to" Elem. school teacher in my corner! I promise to post a few Damien pics.... just a few!

We used to make stepping stones every year in my class. We used the plastic containers you use under plants to keep the water from running out under a plant and regular smooth cement from home depot. Most kids did a hand print than added jewels and things from the dollar store to decorate and their name. What a great idea to do it every year!!

Terry-I think adding bling like Korikiss is a great idea! Using Cement and a plastic container sound like a great idea, too!

About Me
I was a working mother of 2 boys! I didn't have much time for cooking... now that the boys are grown and on their own... I have been enjoying learning and appreciating the art of cooking. I started with a day of baking with my mother in law and I was hooked! Not to mention my new stepkids... what was two... now is four! Our family is growing we now have a grandson, Damien, and one on the way! My grandson loves his visits with Gramma and Grampa...We spend quality time in the kitchen snd chronical our visits here on AR!
My favorite things to cook
I love to bake! It is my therapy...I love to buy and read all types of recipe books ( call me old fashion ) but it's fun to pick out 1 recipe in a new book and try it the day I get the book!
My favorite family cooking traditions
My husband and I have great times cooking meals together! When the kids come to visit we let them request their menu of choice. Funny twist... my two boys request Jim's culinary feasts... Jim's two request Stepmom's dinner delights! Works out fine at the end of the day!
My cooking triumphs
Check out my pics, the wedding cake? It was my 1st attempt at a wedding cake... can you believe it... I still can't!
My cooking tragedies
so many... hard to pick just one! but isn't that the joy of cooking?
