Jim and I have been on vacation this week... We call it our stay-cation!  Why do we call it that?   It is because we don't go anywhere... we stay at home!  We enjoy our time in our home , watch the college world series, swim in the pool, and eat...the old grill is definately getting a work out this week!

We went to the open market this morning and found some silver queen corn... our favorite!  Normally I make creamed corn with it ... which reminds me I really need to blog about my Nannies cream corn technique... It is never fail and always the best corn you will ever taste... but anyhoo... I have a hankering for grilled sweet corn!!

Jim is in the kitchen putting a rub on some gorgeous beef ribs... and of course I'm on AR looking for some grilled corn recipes... Oh my.... I didn't know there were so many different ways and flavors to grill corn!  How will we ever decide?

Here are some of the recipes that struck my fancy.....

Corn on the grill
Grilled corn with cilantro lime butter
Santa Fe corn on the cob
Zippy corn on the cob
Parmesan Roasted corn on the cob

They are all in my recipe box ... and these are just a tip of the iceburg... there are so many more if you search!  I don't know which will hit the table tonight but the first one is in the lead at the moment!

Jim is so corny.... maybe I'll let him decide!

Terry-you are always having fun! I am cleaning my utility room-no fun. So many choices-I have my fork and plate to go-am I invited to your BBQ? All the food looks sooo tasty. Don't leave the ribs on the grill too long-somebody might swipe them!

Terrific blog Terry!! Love the hubhy @the helm! Lol that is usually how my Hubhy sees Me!! Have you tried putting mayo and cojita cheese on your corn along with a squirt of hot sauce? Oh so good!! The cojita cheese is a hard Mexican cheese, like Parm. Sounds weird to put on corn but Trust me!!

Patty Cakes... I saw a recipe for the cojita cheese for the corn... gotta try this! Jim wants to do corn like we do with the chicken wings one day... several different flavors! Could be good right?

I am going to try the grilled corn on Monday, since I am going to be off from work, and I am thinking about making pork ribs with it.

Hope you have been enjoying your staycation! I could use a new walkway like yours - my hubby made our brick walkway over 25 years ago and it could use some "re-vamping". I am currently on vacation on Chincoteague Island, VA - we come here every year. This year is different - we brought along our Mexican friends and their 3 kids. Nothing beats beach-time with 3 little kids! :)

Sounds like a fine vacation! The corm Patty Cakes suggested is mind blowing! We had such a mild winter that corn season is starting almost a month early. Please do share your granny's creamed corn recipe. Have fun!

Oh my King!!!! That's a great deal and Walmart has some of the best meats! Do you wrap your ribs in foil?

Jun. 24, 2012 5:00 pm
>> Do you wrap your ribs in foil? Yes, But The Last Part Of Cooking I Pull Them Out And Add Some Hickory Chips, And Then A Bit Later Add Barbecue Sauce (Ketchup, And Hot Sauce).

I love it when the corn comes in! I put up some sweet corn, cream style, in the freezer and had to keep out some ears for cooking in the microwave, our favorite way. We feasted for a week on that corn on the cob!

Jun. 25, 2012 5:17 pm
Hey Paula... I gonna post my cream corn recipe! I would love to see how you like it... my fellow corn lover! Next blog, The only problem is I only get it during this time of year! I try to put some up in the freeze... It never seems to last!

About Me
I was a working mother of 2 boys! I didn't have much time for cooking... now that the boys are grown and on their own... I have been enjoying learning and appreciating the art of cooking. I started with a day of baking with my mother in law and I was hooked! Not to mention my new stepkids... what was two... now is four! Our family is growing we now have a grandson, Damien, and one on the way! My grandson loves his visits with Gramma and Grampa...We spend quality time in the kitchen snd chronical our visits here on AR!
My favorite things to cook
I love to bake! It is my therapy...I love to buy and read all types of recipe books ( call me old fashion ) but it's fun to pick out 1 recipe in a new book and try it the day I get the book!
My favorite family cooking traditions
My husband and I have great times cooking meals together! When the kids come to visit we let them request their menu of choice. Funny twist... my two boys request Jim's culinary feasts... Jim's two request Stepmom's dinner delights! Works out fine at the end of the day!
My cooking triumphs
Check out my pics, the wedding cake? It was my 1st attempt at a wedding cake... can you believe it... I still can't!
My cooking tragedies
so many... hard to pick just one! but isn't that the joy of cooking?
