Well our week is coming  to an end... We will be taking Damien back to his Mom and Dad on Sunday.  We had the best visit!   We had monday and tuesday all to ourselves... then it was back to having Audrie join us on the rest of the week!

Today I planned for the kids to make Daddy's day presents....

Hand prints on a sweet poem... from two of the sweetest kids on earth... sounds simple right?

Let me tell you how this venture went....

Me:  Wanna make your Daddy's a present?"
Kids:  " Yeah!"
Me:  We are gonna make a poem and paint your hand to put on it.
Kids:  Paint... Paint.. Paint....!

I print the poem ... two of them... the cherubs pick thier paint color... green and purple... we ready the paper plate for the hand prints... WHAT WAS I THINKING?

Needless to say ... after several reprints of the poem and several attempts at handprints and major clean ups later... Here is Damien's gift to his Daddy!  Audries' mom collected her's before we had a recovery period to take a picture of her final product!

Happy father's Day... Alan and Ronnie!  And the kids are sending a big Happy Fathers Day to all  of the AR daddy's out there!

Love Damien and Audrie!!!!  and me!

Every day I am exploring, touching everything I’ve found.  I leave behind my little marks and handprints all around.

You clean up those handprints but some day when I’m grown you’ll wish you had just one handprint to keep for your own.

I made this handprint for you so that one day when I’m tall you’ll remember what my hand looked like

long ago when I was small.

I will be calling home to talk to my father, he has alzheimer's disease some times he does not understand who I am. one time he asked me if I remember his dog that he had when he was a kid. I just tell him no I don't remember. It is very sad for me that once a very smart man who could fix anything can't remember from one moment to the next.

That is a gift to treasure. I'm sure they will be well appreciated. Have a great weekend and wish a Happy Father's Day to all your men.

Hello,Terry. I know what you mean when you say this took a few times to get the handprints right. As an elementary teacher for many years, I made these with a whole class full of kiddos every year. I learned that using a pie pan was easier. Then, I would take a paint brush and call each student one at a time. I would paint each child's hand. I would gently help each child press his/her hand on the paper. There is definitely a knack to this project. Ah, the memories of paint disasters.

Sounds like a great time to me. I'm sure the Dad's will treasure them. I took the Grands to Whole Foods on Sat. for a free cookie decorating class. They make sandwich cookies for their Dad. We bought two great cards because we ran short on time to make them as planned. I was kinda tired, so we picked up a pepperoni pizza at W.F. Gotta tell you one of the best pizzas I ever ate. We capped off our evening with hot baths, clean jammies and pay per view movie "Alvin and the Chipmonks Chipwrecked." Very cute. This morning we got up and make sausage in a blanket pancakes in my new ready set cook griller. Lots of fun. They just went home, good soldiers that they are, all toys are in the box, dishes are done, house straightened out. Now I can put up my feet and read the paper. Happy Dad's Day to all of you out there.

About Me
I was a working mother of 2 boys! I didn't have much time for cooking... now that the boys are grown and on their own... I have been enjoying learning and appreciating the art of cooking. I started with a day of baking with my mother in law and I was hooked! Not to mention my new stepkids... what was two... now is four! Our family is growing we now have a grandson, Damien, and one on the way! My grandson loves his visits with Gramma and Grampa...We spend quality time in the kitchen snd chronical our visits here on AR!
My favorite things to cook
I love to bake! It is my therapy...I love to buy and read all types of recipe books ( call me old fashion ) but it's fun to pick out 1 recipe in a new book and try it the day I get the book!
My favorite family cooking traditions
My husband and I have great times cooking meals together! When the kids come to visit we let them request their menu of choice. Funny twist... my two boys request Jim's culinary feasts... Jim's two request Stepmom's dinner delights! Works out fine at the end of the day!
My cooking triumphs
Check out my pics, the wedding cake? It was my 1st attempt at a wedding cake... can you believe it... I still can't!
My cooking tragedies
so many... hard to pick just one! but isn't that the joy of cooking?
