Yep that's right... Damien... Dad... and Dogs!

Sorry for the hiatus... but Jim has just returned to work, after his Total Knee, and I have had to readjust back to normal again.  That has taken me about a good month... not because I am slow at adjusting... but... trying to unspoil my two little toddlers that I keep during the week!  I think that I have accomplished that mission... they still ask for Jim, aka, Pop... at least a thousand times a day...!

That being done... Jim and I decided it was " Damien time"!  For those who are not familiar with the famous Damien... He is our most amazing Grandson!...  but anyhoo back to the meat of my blog... and by meat, I mean the almighty Hot Dog.... oops getting a tad ahead of myself.

So... we fetched our pride and joy last friday, and have had him with us all week.  My dad wanted to come and spend some time with his great grand.  Pay close Attention to this statement... There are only two people I know... that love Hot Dogs as much as I do.... tada... My Dad and My Damien!

Dad arrives and Damien runs to the door " Papa Goff.... Papa Goff".... Knowing that maybe papa has a gift in tow.  Damien scores a new fishing rod... Now on to my third " D " HOT DOGS!!!!!

I have to tell you, I get my love for hotdogs honestly and you can say I have passed that gene along to the grand!  After some greatgrandson lap time... Dad says... " Don't you think we need to get the chili going?"  Instead of my... I know what I'm doing in the kitchen attitude... I ask my father how he makes his chili.    Here's his recipe:

75 /25% ground beef
1 whole onion (diced)
chili powder to taste
garlic powder to taste
black pepper to taste
tad of catsup

Simple huh?.... I'm game!

I took the liberty to add a little celery seed and spanish paprika... gotta tell you... Hands down the best chili I ever made!  GO DADDY!

Damien ate one whole hotdog before grace was said... (by the way there will be a Damien visit blog to follow... no big surprise... lol!)

OK... I really need to give credit where credit is due... My personal hot dog chef... Jim!  Beef Master hot dogs by Jim!

I love my 3 D life ... with a constant side of "J"!

Good to see Jim back up and at it. When I saw the photos I thought the 3-D's were Dad, Daughter and Damien. Here's a cool one to spring on the little one. http://myplumpudding.blogspot.com/2009/05/spaghetti-dogs.html

I love hot-dogs with Natural casings. I don't buy anything else. They Have That Snap The Skinless hot-dogs don't have.

Hi cat, We came out of the gates at full speed, once jim got cleared for work! The surgery seems well worth all the muck we went through!

I was thinking about not "seeing" you last night. I'm glad all is going well and Jim is back to his routine. That is a picture to treasure. How wonderful that your dad can enjoy Damien like you do.

Terry - Howdy! I only like hotdogs 2 ways: either grilled or as a chili dog. We just had huge German Franks with awesome chili over them for lunch today! :) Can't wait to read your next Damien Blog...

About Me
I was a working mother of 2 boys! I didn't have much time for cooking... now that the boys are grown and on their own... I have been enjoying learning and appreciating the art of cooking. I started with a day of baking with my mother in law and I was hooked! Not to mention my new stepkids... what was two... now is four! Our family is growing we now have a grandson, Damien, and one on the way! My grandson loves his visits with Gramma and Grampa...We spend quality time in the kitchen snd chronical our visits here on AR!
My favorite things to cook
I love to bake! It is my therapy...I love to buy and read all types of recipe books ( call me old fashion ) but it's fun to pick out 1 recipe in a new book and try it the day I get the book!
My favorite family cooking traditions
My husband and I have great times cooking meals together! When the kids come to visit we let them request their menu of choice. Funny twist... my two boys request Jim's culinary feasts... Jim's two request Stepmom's dinner delights! Works out fine at the end of the day!
My cooking triumphs
Check out my pics, the wedding cake? It was my 1st attempt at a wedding cake... can you believe it... I still can't!
My cooking tragedies
so many... hard to pick just one! but isn't that the joy of cooking?
