Getting Back To Work On An Old Project!

Since Jim's knee surgery... It seems I have been demoted to the love seat... while his majesty lounges out on the big couch!  Now that is not really too much of a big deal... except there is no end table there, you know for the computer, my Nook and the occaisional glass of wine! ( By the way Jim is going back to work in a week... He's doing great!)

So today I went scouring through my house for a stray table to put by my new perch... found one!  The table that I found was in the corner of my bedroom... it really served no purpose other than to hold spare change, my under used ped egg, and a holder in the bottom, full of books we always said we were gonna read, but never did!

Amongst the books, I found a legal pad.  As I flip open the pad I realize that it is a Cook Book that I had started writing at least five years ago! Since my last blog was about cookbooks ... I felt this might be a sign!

As I read the first fifty pages of my writings... I'm thinking ... Girl... ( yeah sometimes I call myself girl) You need to get back to this project!  Then I thought ... I have a wealth of  knowledge here at my finger tips...

The chapter I stopped on was pantry cooking.  I had recommended a lot of items that should belong in a well stocked pantry... but I'm sure I left out a few...

If I could beg your help... What do you make sure you always have in your pantry?

Oh gosh Terry - you can't imagine what my pantry contains. I am really blessed! Those things that move really fast are canned beans, broth, chilies, tomatoes of all kinds. An assortment of rice and pastas. Flour - all kinds, YEAST. Onions, garlic, potatoes. Olive oil and numerous other oils - numerous kinds of vinegar. Gosh....I could go on, but I won't. You get the picture. :)

You mean I'm supposed to keep the red-headed circus acrobatic midget in the pantry? I think the only thing I keep that hasn't been mentioned is a quart of Parmalat shelf stable milk and a can of fat free evaporated. Jim is doing great!

Hello Terri! Here's a few items I never like run out of-nonfat dry milk, powdered buttermilk, chicken stock, and my husband's go-to-lunches, chicken noodle soup and Walmart chili and beans. If my husband runs out of his go-to-lunches, it is time to go to the store. Now, my son on the other hand-if it is ketchup or ranch dressing, it is time to go to the store. For me, I forgot to add canola oil that gets me to go to the store!

About Me
I was a working mother of 2 boys! I didn't have much time for cooking... now that the boys are grown and on their own... I have been enjoying learning and appreciating the art of cooking. I started with a day of baking with my mother in law and I was hooked! Not to mention my new stepkids... what was two... now is four! Our family is growing we now have a grandson, Damien, and one on the way! My grandson loves his visits with Gramma and Grampa...We spend quality time in the kitchen snd chronical our visits here on AR!
My favorite things to cook
I love to bake! It is my therapy...I love to buy and read all types of recipe books ( call me old fashion ) but it's fun to pick out 1 recipe in a new book and try it the day I get the book!
My favorite family cooking traditions
My husband and I have great times cooking meals together! When the kids come to visit we let them request their menu of choice. Funny twist... my two boys request Jim's culinary feasts... Jim's two request Stepmom's dinner delights! Works out fine at the end of the day!
My cooking triumphs
Check out my pics, the wedding cake? It was my 1st attempt at a wedding cake... can you believe it... I still can't!
My cooking tragedies
so many... hard to pick just one! but isn't that the joy of cooking?
