So it has been 5 weeks and 1 day since Jim's Total Knee Surgery!  What a wild ride!  Jim's Surgeon told me... " Jim's gonna think he's made the worst decision of his life for the next two months..."  Well... let me tell you where we are at ... at the moment!

Our home health services are done and we are entering the outpatient phase of our rehab... yes it is still we!  We found a great Rehab company... actually one started by therapists I used to work with... years ago!

Jim's range of motion is really good, despite all of the setbacks that he's experienced!  His strength is also coming along quite nicely!  This is my perspective... don't ask Jim how he thinks things are... He is still not a happy camper!

Jim is now driving ... Yeah!  Walking on a cane... Yeah!  Grilling in the back yard... Yeah!  Helping with the trash and the cats!  Now I can see he has come a long way and we still have a little ways left to go, but we are seeing that awesome, welcome, well deserved light at the end of this TKR tunnel!

I can tell JIm is ready to get back to work!  Let me tell you what happened yesterday... Jim is a sales manager for digital media... Ding Dong.... Young man at the door recruiting for odd jobs.

This is the sequence of events:

Me:  Jim there is a young man at the door wanting to know if we needed any pressure washing done... as we have siding and a screened back porch...

Jim comes to the door, walks outside and preceeds to talk to this young man.  A few minutes later... Jim is on the phone to one of his sales reps. giving, this ambitious young man's, name and number to him to get in touch with for a print add special!

Yep.... He's on the mend and we have made it this far!  I expect the next phase will be much better for the lot of us!  We have had exceptional care and support thus far... I can't wait to share the final update with all my AR family!

A special thanks to you all... I don't think we could have gotten to this point without the love and support from you guys!   SO .... Special Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!

He's doing GREAT! I'm glad to hear that!! I had to use crutches for a couple of months, but, then again, mine was a partial and I also had some other hardware pulled out at the same time (a plate and 5 screws through my tibia). Hang in there, Jim...there is light at the end of the tunnel...I promise...I'm 5 years since mine this month!

Terry, I am glad Jim is feeling better. I enjoy reading your blogs. There is no car washing here in Colorado. It is 30 degrees with lots of snow with the windchill of 18 degrees.

Hi Terry! Sounds like Jim is doing very well - good for him! Don't let him overdo it just because he's feeling better, he still needs to progress at the correct pace! Our neighbor had a total hip replacement right before winter and she's doing fantastic. She said she's painfree and able to walk like she hasn't in years. Jim will be back to near-perfect just in time to cut the grass! ;)

Hi Terry. I missed this blog last week and am so glad to hear Jim is doing better. I have been wondering how you both were holding up.

Thanks Denise... we are on the mend! Thanks for checking in! I think we are doing pretty well... despite all the setbacks!

I had a hip done about 6 years ago. It was relatively "easy" and the pain was gone immediately after I woke up. (besides some obvious surgical pain for a couple of weeks). I am thinking I may need a knee done sometime in the near future ,,,,, but I have heard that they are SO MUCH more difficult than a hip. Glad he is seeing the light at the end of the tunnel and that he now can almost accept that it isn't a freight train. Good luck and keep us posted!!

Yeah Jim!! Glad to hear that he is on the mend - - way to go Jim - - and way to hang in there Terry!! You're both in the home stretch and headed for the goal line - - can't wait to see Jim's touchdown dance!!

Luvs... It has been a long game... but we can see that goal line! It made me chuckle to imagine Jim doing a touchdown dance!!!

Chris... Jim is still having a lot of pain, but no where near what he was having! I'm glad you had an easy time with the hip, maybe a new knee won't be as bad as Jim's! He told me a few times that he felt like he was hit by two freight trains!

About Me
I was a working mother of 2 boys! I didn't have much time for cooking... now that the boys are grown and on their own... I have been enjoying learning and appreciating the art of cooking. I started with a day of baking with my mother in law and I was hooked! Not to mention my new stepkids... what was two... now is four! Our family is growing we now have a grandson, Damien, and one on the way! My grandson loves his visits with Gramma and Grampa...We spend quality time in the kitchen snd chronical our visits here on AR!
My favorite things to cook
I love to bake! It is my therapy...I love to buy and read all types of recipe books ( call me old fashion ) but it's fun to pick out 1 recipe in a new book and try it the day I get the book!
My favorite family cooking traditions
My husband and I have great times cooking meals together! When the kids come to visit we let them request their menu of choice. Funny twist... my two boys request Jim's culinary feasts... Jim's two request Stepmom's dinner delights! Works out fine at the end of the day!
My cooking triumphs
Check out my pics, the wedding cake? It was my 1st attempt at a wedding cake... can you believe it... I still can't!
My cooking tragedies
so many... hard to pick just one! but isn't that the joy of cooking?
