Quiet House.....

Last week we had the grandson with us… the minute he left, Jim and I, looked at each other and realized the deafening silence in the house! As we get ready for bed, I pass by Damien’s bedroom , all of his toys are in his toy box, all of his books are in his book box, his bed was neatly made and I remembered, just yesterday that room was toys and books from wall to wall! Laughter filled the house for an entire week!

Now I know everyone is probably tired of me posting about the grandson… I like to think that you are not…but I feel this is a good way to chronicle my time with him, that he and I can read together one day! We shared so many special moments and I like to reread what we did on certain visits and my hopes are that he one day will appreciate it also!

My grand parents died when I was very young or before I was born, you see I am the youngest of five children… and the life expectancy of that generation was not really a ripe old age. I wish I would have gotten to spend happy moments in the kitchen if not with both my grandmothers but at least one! Damien and I spend a lot of time in the kitchen! That is just our time and he loves cooking and mixing and tasting and showing off the end result… With a proud… “ Wook at dis Grampa !”

I promise only a few pics… but he is just soooo darn cute!

Terry, I love being part of your family via the AR Blog. My Grandma passed away when I was nineteen and I miss her. The memories I have of her will always be treasured,(As you probably noticed in my blogs.) So I say, blog away and then when Damien is older, he will truly love to look back at memories at Grampa and Grammy's house! BTW, kid's pics are full of happiness and spread happiness to all.

Don't stop blogging about Damien and don't stop posting pics! I love every one of them! I know he will one day read these and they will bring back fond memories of spending time with his grandparents. I can't wait to one day have grandchildren to spoil, and in the meantime I'm fortunate to have some "adopted" ones I can steal from their parents about anytime I want.

Terry, this is your blog. You post about whatever the heck pleases you, Damien would be a worthy effort. I want to assign you a task. Get 2 lbs of chocolate chips, butter, flour, a wee bit of salt and some baking soda, and take that wee bairn into the kitchen next time he's passin through and see a man about some cookies. Blog about THAT.

terry...yep he is so darn cute! i love my daughters and support them in every way, but i want them both college educated before marriage, so they will not depend on any man (besides me) to give them monetary assistance. but after saying all that...gosh i would love a grandson! to take catching...not fishing!

Thank you all for commenting! Lela... I can't look at these pics of him without smiling! He truly lights up my world! MA... I have a few that I've kinda adopted also... they keep me busy! This week I had both of them plus Damien... ages... 3, 2 and 2 1/2! I loved every minute of it! Of course the other two go home and then it's just Gramma, Grampa and Damien!

We know that lonesome feeling when the house seems suddenly quiet. Next weekend we will be reawakened by our youngest granddaughter and her bag of jello dog. (The ones in my avatar.)

You are preaching to the choir. Enjoy every instant, tell anyone who will listen (or read) without guilt. For me, being a grandmother is the best experience of my life. There is a plaque on my front door that reads "Grandkids welcome, leave parents at home". He is darling, more pictures please.

I enjoy reading of your adventures with your little one(s). I wish mine were little again (youngest is 10). They are amazing individuals all ages/stages, but the innocence of toddlers is awesome! Thanks for sharing!

About Me
I was a working mother of 2 boys! I didn't have much time for cooking... now that the boys are grown and on their own... I have been enjoying learning and appreciating the art of cooking. I started with a day of baking with my mother in law and I was hooked! Not to mention my new stepkids... what was two... now is four! Our family is growing we now have a grandson, Damien, and one on the way! My grandson loves his visits with Gramma and Grampa...We spend quality time in the kitchen snd chronical our visits here on AR!
My favorite things to cook
I love to bake! It is my therapy...I love to buy and read all types of recipe books ( call me old fashion ) but it's fun to pick out 1 recipe in a new book and try it the day I get the book!
My favorite family cooking traditions
My husband and I have great times cooking meals together! When the kids come to visit we let them request their menu of choice. Funny twist... my two boys request Jim's culinary feasts... Jim's two request Stepmom's dinner delights! Works out fine at the end of the day!
My cooking triumphs
Check out my pics, the wedding cake? It was my 1st attempt at a wedding cake... can you believe it... I still can't!
My cooking tragedies
so many... hard to pick just one! but isn't that the joy of cooking?
