Getting Back To Normal!

I felt like baking today!  Yay!  Life seems to be normalizing somewhat!  It's been 3 weeks and one day since Jim's surgery!  Jim is now on a cane and doing quite well!  We have 100 plus degrees of flexion and almost zero of extension!  Yay Jim!  ( Yep I say we!.. I do help a tad!)

I felt like baking today.... oh yeah I already said that... I searched the pantry and found that my baking goods have been untouched for a while!  I decided on Cinnamon rolls again... this time a fleischmans recipe!<

I was trying to wait on Audrie to wake from her nap, for her to assist me... but no go... I mixed the dough to let rise, thinking she could help with the rolling and the filling!  She took a three hour nap!  ( maybe she knew we were gonna make the dreaded rolls again!)  She hates the sticky dough on her hands ... cake batter no probem... she doesn't mind that on her precious fingers!

I rolled the dough and cut the dough and placed in the pans to rise yet again!  There was a tad of choice words from me as I'm not a big fan of sticky dough, either... but I love the whole process of baking with yeast!

There is certainly a therapuetic quality of baking!  I feel like we're on the mend and getting back to Normal!

Those roll look soooo good. I have been trying my best to stay away from treats until I get the last of the Christmas weight off 5 of the 7 holiday pounds are gone, then I start on the next 15. But I will allow myself a treat in between. You and Jim are making great progress - YAY Team!

Hello there! Good to hear that things are starting to get back to normal at your house. And so good that Jim is progressing so well! I must say that those cinnamon rolls look delish!! I envy anyone who can work with yeast dough. I have tried several times in the past, but was always less than happy with my results. So I leave it up to you gals who have that special touch. But, oo-o-o! I can almost smell them baking and I am drooling as I write this. Too bad our computers are not equiped with "smell-a-vision"! Or, maybe that's a good thing! Anyway, so good to see that you both are surviving and doing much better. Have enjoyed your blogs and updates.

Hey BSM! I just needed to bake! I'll give most of them away.. as the neighbors seem to know when I'm baking! I'm soooo proud of Jim! It's been a tough road, but whatta trooper!!!!!

Scooter! The smell is so overwhelming... it might be the best kitchen smell in the world! other than pumpkin pie! Kinda partial to that one! I've had my "give up" moments with making these cinnamon rolls... but I couldn't let a baked good win! I still use bad words during the process, and Jim always asks " Why do it?" I just say.... I win!!!!!!

I think a topping of crushed Pecans would work well with this.

Wow do they look good! Really, really good!

King! Where were you right before they went in the oven? I've got a ton of pecans on the porch needing to be shelled and used! Maybe I can toast a few in butter and toss them on top? What ya think?

About Me
I was a working mother of 2 boys! I didn't have much time for cooking... now that the boys are grown and on their own... I have been enjoying learning and appreciating the art of cooking. I started with a day of baking with my mother in law and I was hooked! Not to mention my new stepkids... what was two... now is four! Our family is growing we now have a grandson, Damien, and one on the way! My grandson loves his visits with Gramma and Grampa...We spend quality time in the kitchen snd chronical our visits here on AR!
My favorite things to cook
I love to bake! It is my therapy...I love to buy and read all types of recipe books ( call me old fashion ) but it's fun to pick out 1 recipe in a new book and try it the day I get the book!
My favorite family cooking traditions
My husband and I have great times cooking meals together! When the kids come to visit we let them request their menu of choice. Funny twist... my two boys request Jim's culinary feasts... Jim's two request Stepmom's dinner delights! Works out fine at the end of the day!
My cooking triumphs
Check out my pics, the wedding cake? It was my 1st attempt at a wedding cake... can you believe it... I still can't!
My cooking tragedies
so many... hard to pick just one! but isn't that the joy of cooking?
