When I posted my last blog, " A New Knee For The New Year!"  I never thought of how much I needed the responses... I thought ,as a loving and caring wife, being in a community of my peers would give Jim a sense of love and support other than immediate family and his circle of friends!

Well let me tell you a real life saga...

Once upon a time there was a fairley youngish, retired, Physical Therapist... Who's handsome , fairly youngish prince was in need of a long over due ... very invasive surgery!

The Fair PT belonged to a magical kingdom, which was inhabited Fairy godmothers, godfathers and godsibilings and godchildren... ( ok.. just stick with me a little longer)

On the day of her handsome princes surgery she put out a flyer announcing the upcoming event... the response was overwhelming!  Especially because... the kingdom was not a fadish social site... but a  kingdom of Fairy Food People!

The night after the surgery.. the Handsome prince had a restless night filled with pain and a ton of upchucking!

The day after.. he found more of the same... and then came the Evil Demons... known as the Therapist.... Well being of the same province , the Fair PT's only defense she had to offer her love... was the writings and response of her beloved Kingdom!

The ( not so ) End!

I sat here after a long night and day with Jim... while he is sick , in tremendous pain, and on the CPM for the last two hours of the day... I'm reading the responses of all of you gave... out loud to him!

The two hours done.... I didn't even wake him up getting him off that torid machine!  My gratitude to all of you!

I'll let you all know when he can say the same!!!!!!!

Oh my goodness Terry - - this has been as much an ordeal for you as it has been for Jim. Please tell him that he and his fair maiden are still in the prayers of the munchkins in the land of the Food Fairy People.

So glad this site could provide you with some extra support. Tell Jim to keep up with his therapy because you "kneed" him home soon!

It truly is a community that cares, isn't it? I had a hip replacement 5 years ago, and I do need a knee... but I know the knee is much more painful and the recovery is much longer. I keep putting it off. When I had my hip done, it was like a miracle as the horrible pain of over 2 years was "miraculously" gone. I will be watching to see how he does. A few weeks of "pain" following the surgery would be worth it to be able to resume activity again. Prayers on their way from Wisconsin, and I hope you will continue to keep us posted as I know that you do know how much everyone here cares!! Good luck to both of you.

Geez Louise, Terry! I'm so, so sorry for poor Jim! I missed your last blog post completely. Bad Duffy! Bad! I do so hope he feels better very soon. I'm sure he will with your loving care. If it'll help, I'll drive up there and make him homemade chips and salsa. Goes really good with FCC, I swear. Would I lie to a man in pain? :D

Luvs, I never thought of calling you all munchikins... kinda made Jim chuckle... I thought of saving these responses tonight with him... like last night, but it seems he needed a little distraction this am. Thank you so much for hangin' in there with us!

My only experience with knee surgery is peripheral, I've known several that had it done. From what they have told me, I gathered it is a lot like childbirth. Hurts like (fill in the blank), takes a while to get thru, there's a period of adjustment but when all is over, the end result was worth it. Hope he gets to feeling better soon!

I have a friend who just this past summer had both of his knees operated on. He is due to go back for a second surgery on one knee in January and he is only 29.

Terry, I am glad to see Jim made it through the surgery. The nausea is no picnic either. I had surgery in July and it takes awhile to get back to feeling good. Tell Jim, take it one day at a time.

Oh dear, and men don't usually handle that overload of pain too well. You don't have to share that comment. I do feel sorry for him though and hope he can get thru it quickly!

How's the fair prince today? How is he handling the therapy? Has he cast his therapist as the Wicked Witch of the East? Of course pain meds would be cast as Glenda - the Good Witch of the North. Hmmmm . . . now who is the cowardly lion? the tin man? and the scarecrow? And lets not forget the flying monkeys - those dreaded messengers of evil . . . that would probably be the therapist assistants! LOL Tell Jim that when the pain gets bad to click his heels 3 times and say "There's no place like home . . . There's no place like home . . then take some more meds and go to sleep in the poppy fields - - - can you tell I'm watching The Wizard of Oz!!!! LOL

Oh, poor both of you! Him with the pain & you having to watch helplessly. Email me an address and I'll start sending him silly cards. BigShotsMom@Yahoo.com ~~ And you take care of yourself too!

What's happening with him is normal...I had a devil of time with mine afterward. I heard that having a partial, like I did, is harder to heal up from, but I don't know if that's true or not because I haven't had the full meal deal yet. If he's vomiting, his pain meds might be a bit strong for him. You can call his doctor and they may prescribe some phenergan for him, I had to take it because those meds made me constantly urp...but I couldn't quit taking the meds because it hurt so d@mn bad. Tell Jim that there is light at the end of the tunnel. I thought for the first month that I had made the biggest mistake of my life letting them do this to me, but a few months in, it was amazing...I could walk with no pain! He probably doesn't want to hear this right now and probably would tell me to go to hell, but he's gotta get through this to get to the rainbow at the end...hang in there, Jim!! It DOES get better!!

Oh, yeah...before I forget...with both of my leg surgeries (I had a previous major overhaul on this leg before they threw in the towel and gave me the knee replacement...an osteotomy), if he's in a recliner or even lying in bed, there will probably come a time when the back of his heel is going to start hurting from the pressure of his leg being on it...a rolled up towel underneath works wonders!!

Luv, I Think we have turned the corner this evening... Fingers crossed! As far as the cowardly lion... that would be The poor transporter that takes Jim to his Therapy sessions ( Jim is not very nice to the poor boy...)The Tin Man ... hmmmmm I have to give this some thought! Funny stuff Luv! I needed that good laugh!

About Me
I was a working mother of 2 boys! I didn't have much time for cooking... now that the boys are grown and on their own... I have been enjoying learning and appreciating the art of cooking. I started with a day of baking with my mother in law and I was hooked! Not to mention my new stepkids... what was two... now is four! Our family is growing we now have a grandson, Damien, and one on the way! My grandson loves his visits with Gramma and Grampa...We spend quality time in the kitchen snd chronical our visits here on AR!
My favorite things to cook
I love to bake! It is my therapy...I love to buy and read all types of recipe books ( call me old fashion ) but it's fun to pick out 1 recipe in a new book and try it the day I get the book!
My favorite family cooking traditions
My husband and I have great times cooking meals together! When the kids come to visit we let them request their menu of choice. Funny twist... my two boys request Jim's culinary feasts... Jim's two request Stepmom's dinner delights! Works out fine at the end of the day!
My cooking triumphs
Check out my pics, the wedding cake? It was my 1st attempt at a wedding cake... can you believe it... I still can't!
My cooking tragedies
so many... hard to pick just one! but isn't that the joy of cooking?
