Family Tradition!

On Thanksgiving day... the final order of business is ...Our family tradition... Hanging of the "huge" wreath at Oma's house!

Every year comes with a comedy of ... we'll just call it Trippness... this year didn't let us down a bit.

In earnest... there is one person in the attic... pulling up the wreath and one on the ground ...controlling the path of its' destination.

Then you have all of us other family members whom have had the privilege of perfoming this time honored tradition in the past...standing by, giving well meaning advice!

One year we had our beloved Jason... in the attic.... Uncle Jim on the ground ( yep that's my Jim)... and One of the new comers to the family heard something coming from the top o' the house and asked... " who is that"  Jason responded in a booming voice... "THIS IS GOD!" Ok... we found this hilarious.....sometimes, you just gotta be there!

The very next year... my sweet Aunt Margaret..., imagine the accent of Scarlet O'hara... now imagine that huge wreath nestled at its' intended resting place for the holiday season... and her response... "How'd they get that huge wreath through those tiny little louvers?  Again We find that funny stuff... I guess you gotta know Aunt Margaret!;type=3<

Yep... It's so true!

I'm posting pics here to support the proof.

Chuck and Chase... our chosen hangers of the wreath.

Are those cranberries on that wreath? If so, where did they come from, I am very suspicious? Just kidding. Inside joke folks

LOL, love it. That wreath is beautiful and to hoist it as a tradition is great. We also seem to have many white hard hat people around offering advice, gotta love them

Love it! I love traditions, each year is the same, yet different. The "THIS IS GOD" comment brought back a memory for me. When I was in high school and playing basketball (I was dating my now-husband at the time) he and a friend came to my game. The game was over and I was walking out to get on the bus and I hear coming out of the dark from the parking lot, "Nancy - This is God - Jon loves you!" All my teammates started laughing. Jon's friend had a PA system in his truck and it was him shouting that out. It was funny.

It looks like it would bounce around when the wind blows the way it is mounted.

That looks so pretty! Your aunt must know my grandmother - she wanted to know if dry gasoline was a powder and how many tablespoons to add to her gas tank. My dad was in tears trying to answer her.

Our family is growing we now have a grandson, Damien, and one on the way! My grandson loves his visits with Gramma and Grampa...We spend quality time in the kitchen snd chronical our visits here on AR!
My favorite things to cook
I love to bake! It is my therapy...I love to buy and read all types of recipe books ( call me old fashion ) but it's fun to pick out 1 recipe in a new book and try it the day I get the book!
My favorite family cooking traditions
My husband and I have great times cooking meals together! When the kids come to visit we let them request their menu of choice. Funny twist... my two boys request Jim's culinary feasts... Jim's two request Stepmom's dinner delights! Works out fine at the end of the day!
My cooking triumphs
Check out my pics, the wedding cake? It was my 1st attempt at a wedding cake... can you believe it... I still can't!
My cooking tragedies
