My first Thanksgiving memories, other than those in Aunt Mary's huge kitchen... tons of great food, and all of us cousins fighting for floor space in the out porch pantry, waiting on Thanksgiving grub, SC Style... that memory happens to be... Hand traced Turkey day art!

I can't recall the first or the last of said art... but I do recall the finding of the " art"!

Upon the marriage of a Goff girl... there is a ritual... of the cleansing of Mom and Dads home of your past! Mine happened in 1982.

To the attic we go!

The first box was tons of art projects... the first stack... one after another of Hand turkeys! I can't remember the total nor kept any of them for keeps sake.. but I do think ,the fact that mom did, was their sole purpose!

So I decided today was the day, my little loves needed to create the future cherished "first" Hand traced turkey art for their Mommy!

Here's our Memories in the making!

What adorable kiddos! Thanks for this blog - you just gave me an idea for what to do with my "Adopted Mexican" Grandkids! I've been missing them and want them to come over, but it's always good to have a planned activity to keep them busy; they're 9, 6 and 4.

I remember tracing my hand in kindergarten and making a turkey. It is amazing how good that works.

Such cute children! They look like they are having a ball. I don't recall making hand turkeys myself, but I sure hung a lot of them on the fridge when my kids were in school.

You're already embedding fond memories in the children's minds such as yours. Keep them going Terry. God gave us memories that we might have roses in December. ~J.M. Barrie

About Me
I was a working mother of 2 boys! I didn't have much time for cooking... now that the boys are grown and on their own... I have been enjoying learning and appreciating the art of cooking. I started with a day of baking with my mother in law and I was hooked! Not to mention my new stepkids... what was two... now is four! Our family is growing we now have a grandson, Damien, and one on the way! My grandson loves his visits with Gramma and Grampa...We spend quality time in the kitchen snd chronical our visits here on AR!
My favorite things to cook
I love to bake! It is my therapy...I love to buy and read all types of recipe books ( call me old fashion ) but it's fun to pick out 1 recipe in a new book and try it the day I get the book!
My favorite family cooking traditions
My husband and I have great times cooking meals together! When the kids come to visit we let them request their menu of choice. Funny twist... my two boys request Jim's culinary feasts... Jim's two request Stepmom's dinner delights! Works out fine at the end of the day!
My cooking triumphs
Check out my pics, the wedding cake? It was my 1st attempt at a wedding cake... can you believe it... I still can't!
My cooking tragedies
so many... hard to pick just one! but isn't that the joy of cooking?
