College Football... The Good, Bad , and The Ugly!

Well, what can I say... I'm a huge fan of sports and the food that is associated with this exciting venue!  One has to wonder ... which came first?  The food that comes along with sports events or the actual sports event itself?

I personally think God created the hotdog to promote the evolution of sports.  What would the world be without our team sports?

( Just a little side note on a huge black eye in the world of college football... Penn State... this event of record, is not what the world of atheleticism is meant to be. )

Well... back to game time cuisine!  What is your favorite game time fare?

My South Carolina Gamecocks played Florida Gators... We won by the way.  Not a very pretty win, but a win non-the-less!  This may well be, the main reason, why I choose to serve my main yummies at half time, rather than at the begining of the game... If the game is going badly... your food can console the wounds.. if the game is going well ... your food can be an added glory to a happy crowd!

I bet you think I have hotdogs at any opportunistic hotdog moment..... Not... today I served Snow Crab legs with roasted garlic and ground black pepper butter sauce! It took considerably less time to prepare and I didn't miss any couch time going back and forth into the kitchen to prepare condiments and assisting Jim on the outdoor delivery of dogs, burgers, clean retrieving trays and keeping my outdoor chef company during his gametime duty... Not that I mind, but it was a really good change in our saturday game plan!

Did I mention I love the fall... Football, Family and Food!  Nuff said!

I love sports - though football is my least favorite. Give me a good basketball game, or baseball game, or a great wrestling match. Not TV wrestling - good old-fashioned high school wrestling. But - I look forward to a gathering with friends to watch football - not for the game - but for the food! Let me know next time you're serving crab legs at your game day party! Yummy! I'll bring the wine! :-)

I ADORE football, not college so much, but NFL. And I love hockey as well. But I am an obsessive fan. I can NOT eat during a game at all...I am simply too wound up to be distracted. And the threat of distraction is also why I can't possibly watch a game with anyone who will try to talk to me during a game. Unless it is a cheer or a "WOW- did you see that?!" etc., I do not wish to speak whilst watching! This aspect has gotten slightly better since I can now pause the game and hush someone up, or, in the case of my boyfriend, explain something that just happened (he is a newbie!). So, oddly, for me sports and food do not go together, unless it is served before the game. I won't eat so much as a potato chip after it starts! But, then, I am weird!!!!

My apologies! I meant to add that I enjoyed your blog very much, and every other sports fan I know is much like you! And also meant to add, living in Pittsburgh, I can tell you the Penn State debacle is pretty much all I have heard about lately. Such a terrible and sad situation :(

Puck that's quite ok! My Hubby is so intense during college games but he also plays Fantasy football... Sundays I spend my day in the yard or in the kitchen! I agree the Penn state situation is sad... It just turns my stomach to think of how many young boys could have not been harmed if it were'nt for Paterno and crew!

MA, You got it! I love the crab legs for game time... One pot to fix, serve and dispose of the shells... Easy peasy lemon squeezy!

About Me
I was a working mother of 2 boys! I didn't have much time for cooking... now that the boys are grown and on their own... I have been enjoying learning and appreciating the art of cooking. I started with a day of baking with my mother in law and I was hooked! Not to mention my new stepkids... what was two... now is four! Our family is growing we now have a grandson, Damien, and one on the way! My grandson loves his visits with Gramma and Grampa...We spend quality time in the kitchen snd chronical our visits here on AR!
My favorite things to cook
I love to bake! It is my therapy...I love to buy and read all types of recipe books ( call me old fashion ) but it's fun to pick out 1 recipe in a new book and try it the day I get the book!
My favorite family cooking traditions
My husband and I have great times cooking meals together! When the kids come to visit we let them request their menu of choice. Funny twist... my two boys request Jim's culinary feasts... Jim's two request Stepmom's dinner delights! Works out fine at the end of the day!
My cooking triumphs
Check out my pics, the wedding cake? It was my 1st attempt at a wedding cake... can you believe it... I still can't!
My cooking tragedies
so many... hard to pick just one! but isn't that the joy of cooking?
