Well the last post... Just Gotta... paid off.. by the delivery of my North Carolina apples!  My dear niece brought by the most beautiful apples that they purchased for Aunt Terry!

I have a tried and true apple pie recipe, but felt a need to make these apples into a worthy special event as was the venue of which they were obtained.

On The Martha Stewart show on monday... She and a buddy of hers made a Mile high Apple Pie!  so that is exactly what I needed to bake!  The entire process of peeling the apples and paring them to making the crust was such a pleasure!

The smell, however is the best part of baking an apple pie!  I planned the timing of pullng the pie out of the oven with the arrival of the hubby's return from work... Just a little trick to keep him madly in love with his bride of quite a few years!!!!!

The journey of getting the apples from NC to my kitchen table was so worth the saga of the trip with my sis!

I can almost smell those apples, Terry. Don't forget a picture! (Note to self - convince AR to give us the online version of Smell-O-Vision)

Too late.. Pie is gone! I swear my neighbors know when I'm baking. One neighbor brought me some cubed steak she made... went home with apple pie and Chocolate cake! Another neighbor came to make sure our direct TV was connected to our liking... went home with Choc. cake and Apple Pie!!!!

ROFL! You've got some very smart neighbors, I'm thinking. You should try closing the windows.

Windows are closed... But you know I love feedin' the neighbors! Young wifes and mothers... So exciting watching them want to cook and learn. Not from a master of the trade but by an experienced wife and Mom! I'm kinda Giddy!

ROLF, me too! They must smell through closed doors and walls! Glad you had cake and pie, or you would have run out of pie before hubby got his 2nd piece! He did get at least 2, didn't he?? Seriously, homemade apple pie is the absolute best. Teach those sweet, hungry neighbors how you do it, so they can feed you later on!!

apple season and the aroma in my kitchen is my favourite time of year. Apple sauce in the crock pot, pies and strudel in the oven, juice in a big bin, ready to boil and jar.

Does it get any better than that? Gonna make my little Audrei some applesauce today!

About Me
I was a working mother of 2 boys! I didn't have much time for cooking... now that the boys are grown and on their own... I have been enjoying learning and appreciating the art of cooking. I started with a day of baking with my mother in law and I was hooked! Not to mention my new stepkids... what was two... now is four! Our family is growing we now have a grandson, Damien, and one on the way! My grandson loves his visits with Gramma and Grampa...We spend quality time in the kitchen snd chronical our visits here on AR!
My favorite things to cook
I love to bake! It is my therapy...I love to buy and read all types of recipe books ( call me old fashion ) but it's fun to pick out 1 recipe in a new book and try it the day I get the book!
My favorite family cooking traditions
My husband and I have great times cooking meals together! When the kids come to visit we let them request their menu of choice. Funny twist... my two boys request Jim's culinary feasts... Jim's two request Stepmom's dinner delights! Works out fine at the end of the day!
My cooking triumphs
Check out my pics, the wedding cake? It was my 1st attempt at a wedding cake... can you believe it... I still can't!
My cooking tragedies
so many... hard to pick just one! but isn't that the joy of cooking?
