Got Passion?

Jim and I love sports movies as much as we love food.  Just recently we have added net flix to our genre of entertainment availability.  Tonights movie of choice... " They Call Me Sirr".

Gotta tell ya... great movie... and even a greater trip down our "Tripp" Memory lane!

I was quite the tomboy while growing up and played... or at least tried to play... as many sports as
I was allowed to be priveleged to be a part of.   Needless to say "those who cannot play.... cheer! " Just call me a great Cheerleader!

However my Hubby was an accomplished athelete. A three sport letterman in highschool, not to mention his academic accolades... just call my hubby a Jeek ( combo jock / geek )!  Jim is a humble man... that gives all of his credit to the" PATRIARC OF OUR FAMILY" we call " POP" !

You have to be aware of the "Pop" story to appreciate my inspiration for this blog.  Pop loved sports and his son's with a passion! So much so that in 1967, James Edward Tripp started the first organized baseball league in this part of SC!... Which  (by the way) was non existant in this part of heaven, we call the midlands.

Pop was a true coach, in every aspect of the term, he loved the game, respected the tradition and continued the teachings of young men in the ways of playing fair... following the rules... respect of your opponents... and appreciating the result of a worthy opponnent!

This blog has just turned into a saga worth the venue of an autobiography or a grand sports documentary... neither of which my literary skills are adaquate to accomodate...!

All that I can say is this..." my life, my love ,and my passion for all of the above , overwhelms me and makes me want more for society!  Can I say it any louder...FAMILY... FOOD... INTEGRITY... SPORTSMANSHIP, and  PASSION!"

It only means something to others... if you share it with them through your passion!

Miss you Pop and Mike! Pop lived and loved 56 years... Mike kept his legacy intact through his se

Well said, Terry! Too many sports enthusiasts have not been taught these values and have lost themslves to the idea that winning is everything and the values don't count. Attest: fights; money goals; no local loyalty; "me-isms". Perhaps this blog will restore Pop's values to someone.

Lovely tribute to a wonderful role model. I wish more of the kids were coached by someone like him.

I echo the above comments. Sports for kids are only as valuable as the positive character-building achieved through participation. Thanks!

Terry, you write the most inspiring blog! YOUR passion shines through, always. How lucky that Jim had such a role model in "Pop." Thank you for sharing a bit of him with us. And I'm going to add that movie to my Netflix queue right now. Steve and Love sports movies, too. Maybe we'll turn it into a hot dog date night, ala the Tripps. :)

About Me
I was a working mother of 2 boys! I didn't have much time for cooking... now that the boys are grown and on their own... I have been enjoying learning and appreciating the art of cooking. I started with a day of baking with my mother in law and I was hooked! Not to mention my new stepkids... what was two... now is four! Our family is growing we now have a grandson, Damien, and one on the way! My grandson loves his visits with Gramma and Grampa...We spend quality time in the kitchen snd chronical our visits here on AR!
My favorite things to cook
I love to bake! It is my therapy...I love to buy and read all types of recipe books ( call me old fashion ) but it's fun to pick out 1 recipe in a new book and try it the day I get the book!
My favorite family cooking traditions
My husband and I have great times cooking meals together! When the kids come to visit we let them request their menu of choice. Funny twist... my two boys request Jim's culinary feasts... Jim's two request Stepmom's dinner delights! Works out fine at the end of the day!
My cooking triumphs
Check out my pics, the wedding cake? It was my 1st attempt at a wedding cake... can you believe it... I still can't!
My cooking tragedies
so many... hard to pick just one! but isn't that the joy of cooking?
