Is It Just Me... ?

This time of year always lurks me into a funky mom mood. The blogs and posts re: kids... the baby's embarking on their next right of passage... syndrome! Everywhere I turn, I read and experience another empty nest saga!

Trust me it really never ends.  I relive every read and every post of the newly empty nesters!

Guilty... I posted on Facebook today... " Do you ever have one of those days when you miss your kids just a little bit more than usual?.. Having one of those days!"

My nest has been empty for quite some time.

My advice is simply this... get used to missing your babes... and never miss letting your babes know that they are missed!

Rob, Eric, Jessica, and Alan... I miss you and love you tons! Also my added two... Crystal and Laura... Love you both!

My nest is really only partially empty, my son is a college student so he's here for summer and holidays. He just moved back yesterday to school - I already miss him. It's so quiet when he leaves! My daughter's been married over 3 years and I still miss her, too. Never mind she works in sight of where I work and lives 15 minutes away - I still miss her. But, it's also nice to be sharing the house with just hubby and critters. :-) The biggest "plus" I can find with them gone is mealtime - nobody complains about what I've made.

My son too is in College, however he has been going to school that last 2 summers as well so he only comes home on weekends or breaks after exams. He is home for another week and then back after labour day...My daughter lives in town but on her own at the moment, she is talking about going back to school possibly next fall so she will either move home again or move away....I love it when all are home for Sunday dinners, this is so precious to me....It will be only a few more years and who knows where they will be.

I am allegedly an empty nester. DD#1 and hubby live about 20 minutes from here and drop in regularly. DD#2 Lives 2 blocks away, DS#1 actually took wing and moved to the west coast and shows all signs of remaining there, while DD#3 has lived in England for the last 3 years. DS#2 just bought a place literally diagonally across the street from me. My "locals" as I call them are in and out of my kitchen almost as much as if they still live here -- and I love it!!

Hi Terry. Yeah, missing the kid. He's 21, in the Army stationed in Tacoma and haven't seen him since March. Grrr.... Talked to him tonight. We're very grateful that we have a son that wants to call home and chat with us.

Mag, our oldest is stationed at Ft. Benning, Ga. He will be deployed soon with special ops... and we will not know where or when he will return to us! I think this blog was prompted by this fact along with the start of the new school year! Thank your son for his service from me and my family!

About Me
I was a working mother of 2 boys! I didn't have much time for cooking... now that the boys are grown and on their own... I have been enjoying learning and appreciating the art of cooking. I started with a day of baking with my mother in law and I was hooked! Not to mention my new stepkids... what was two... now is four! Our family is growing we now have a grandson, Damien, and one on the way! My grandson loves his visits with Gramma and Grampa...We spend quality time in the kitchen snd chronical our visits here on AR!
My favorite things to cook
I love to bake! It is my therapy...I love to buy and read all types of recipe books ( call me old fashion ) but it's fun to pick out 1 recipe in a new book and try it the day I get the book!
My favorite family cooking traditions
My husband and I have great times cooking meals together! When the kids come to visit we let them request their menu of choice. Funny twist... my two boys request Jim's culinary feasts... Jim's two request Stepmom's dinner delights! Works out fine at the end of the day!
My cooking triumphs
Check out my pics, the wedding cake? It was my 1st attempt at a wedding cake... can you believe it... I still can't!
My cooking tragedies
so many... hard to pick just one! but isn't that the joy of cooking?
