Well... Jim and I now have a ton of free time on our hands! Amazing how much time we spent... on smoking!

We have been cleaning and redecorating the old place and found all of our old games... you know the ones.

Monopoly
Yahtzee
Chess / Checkers
Cards
Scrabble

Tonight we played a rousing game of scrabble! I lost... but what a showing I had! I usually suck at word games! I used a lot of my All recipe terms and recipe words to give me... the not quite upper hand... but, just to let you all know... I didn't lose by much!

Look out Jim I got your letters!

Terry, I hope you encourage many others who are reaching out for encouragement. My father died from smoking (cancer) and my oldest sister quit!! Yay. What helped you?

I miss playing scrabble, we used to play when the kids were little and when we were camping (and if it was raining), we would sit at the little kitchen table in the camper and play after the kids went to sleep. I love the game.

Maureen, The best motivation, I hate to say it, was the death of my brother in law... he was only 56! He pased on june 30th. It was a real wake up call for my husband and myself.

My mom and my uncle both died of lung cancer. Both smoked for over 65 years. I applaud you for quitting. I think you may have once mentioned a grandchild, if so, this is the best thing you EVER DO for your grandchild. What a gift. And the extra $$ must be grand. Luckily, I never smoked, but have known so many who have and I know it is tough to quit. Doing it together is such a good thing, too. Good luck and keep up the success!!

About Me
I was a working mother of 2 boys! I didn't have much time for cooking... now that the boys are grown and on their own... I have been enjoying learning and appreciating the art of cooking. I started with a day of baking with my mother in law and I was hooked! Not to mention my new stepkids... what was two... now is four! Our family is growing we now have a grandson, Damien, and one on the way! My grandson loves his visits with Gramma and Grampa...We spend quality time in the kitchen snd chronical our visits here on AR!
My favorite things to cook
I love to bake! It is my therapy...I love to buy and read all types of recipe books ( call me old fashion ) but it's fun to pick out 1 recipe in a new book and try it the day I get the book!
My favorite family cooking traditions
My husband and I have great times cooking meals together! When the kids come to visit we let them request their menu of choice. Funny twist... my two boys request Jim's culinary feasts... Jim's two request Stepmom's dinner delights! Works out fine at the end of the day!
My cooking triumphs
Check out my pics, the wedding cake? It was my 1st attempt at a wedding cake... can you believe it... I still can't!
My cooking tragedies
so many... hard to pick just one! but isn't that the joy of cooking?
