Boilermaker Tailgate Chili

Reviewed: Dec. 5, 2012
I made this for a family get together and because I needed the stovetop for other things, after browning the beef, I transferred it to a slow cooker and mixed in the remaining ingredients. I cooked it on low for a few hours rather than simmering it on the stovetop. Everyone really liked the flavor but I wasn't too happy with the consistency, as the slow cooker broke everything down too much. I prefer a more chunky-style chili. Lesson learned - next time I'll simmer it on the stovetop as instructed.

Brooke's Best Bombshell Brownies

Reviewed: Dec. 5, 2012
Per others' suggestions, I omitted the chocolate chips but found these brownies to be way too sweet.

Chicken Pot Pie IX

Reviewed: Dec. 5, 2012
Not sure what I did wrong because this was okay but not great and I followed the recipe exactly. Considering the number of positive reviews, I'll give it another try but next time will follow others suggestions and add more seasoning, double the sauce and perhaps use a rotisserie chicken.

Absolutely Ultimate Potato Soup

Reviewed: Sep. 16, 2012
Perfect for a Fall day! I made some slight modifications. I omitted the tarragon and cilantro and used Oscar Mayer Real Bacon and used 2% milk vs. the heavy cream, and it came out delicious! Next time I think I will add some carrots.

Best Tuna Casserole

Reviewed: Aug. 25, 2012
I thought this was a nice spin on tuna casserole. Even though I love onions, I think the next time I will omit them. Otherwise, very good.

I'm not sure that these qualify as brownies but it's a decent cake recipe.

Taco Seasoning I

Reviewed: Jul. 17, 2012
This recipe made my taco night a success. While cooking the ground beef, I realized that I forgot to buy a taco seasoning packet. I used this recipe and taco night was saved. Forget the packets - this will now be my go-to recipe.

Rosemary Ranch Chicken Kabobs

Reviewed: Aug. 28, 2011
I was looking for a good chicken recipe to serve at my cookout. I too usually try out recipes beforehand but didn't have time, so I was a bit apprehensive to try a never-made recipe on guests but it was actually very good. I doubled the recipe and it was just the right amount for 12 chicken breasts. I only used 1/2 the oil, sugar and salt that the recipe called for, however, next time I will make the recipe as stated. I also marinated the chicken for 5 hours. It had a very nice flavor and had a nice aroma as it was being grilled.

Best Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Aug. 28, 2011
Love this recipe! This has been my go-to chocolate chip recipe for quite a few years now. Not only does these recipe produce a perfect-looking cookie they are also very yummy!! Every time I've brought them to a gathering, I've received rave reviews and they are gobbled up in no time! I've also used this recipe to make chocolate-chunk chocolate chip cookies and white chocolate-macadamia nut cookies and they come out perfect each time. Thanks for sharing!

Blueberry Zucchini Bread

Reviewed: Jul. 22, 2010
Excellent zucchini bread! I used 6 mini-loaf pans; and to lighten up on the oil, I used 3/4 cup applesauce and only 1/4 cup of vegetable oil.

Italian Easter Cookies

Reviewed: Apr. 4, 2010
I used to know an Italian women who made these cookies at Easter time and have been in search for a recipe which is comparable to hers and I found it!! Not only were these extremely easy to make they were also DELICIOUS! I even gave some to my parents and they said they tasted just like the ones they get from a local Italian bakery. Thanks, Kelly!

Di's Delicious Deluxe Deviled Eggs

Reviewed: Apr. 4, 2010
These were good but not great. they tasted good -more like potato salad than a deviled egg. Overall I didn't care for the lumpy texture of the yolk mixture (perhaps I didn't mash them well enough). Next time I'll use a more traditional deviled egg recipe.

Cabbage Rolls II

Reviewed: Apr. 4, 2010
I made these for Easter dinner and was a bit disappointed. These were no where near as good as my mom's or mom-in-law's. The cabbage rolls themselves came out great but we didn't care for the sauce -it tasted more like barbecue sauce. Next time I make them I will use tomato soup rather than the sauce that the recipe calls for and will also use a mixture of beef/pork and perhaps some paprika.

My Best Clam Chowder

Reviewed: May 30, 2008
First time making clam chowder & it was delicious. I only had two cans of clams on hand but next time I'll be sure to use three. I think it also needed just a few more vegetables and perhaps a bottle of clam juice. But nonetheless it was still very good. Thanks for the recipe!

Perfect Turkey

Reviewed: Nov. 22, 2007
I made a 7-lb turkey breast. I was a bit apprehensive about brining my turkey, as I never did it before and worried that it might make my turkey salty, but no worries here. The turkey was excellent - very moist and tender! I did reduce the ingredients by half, used 3/4 cup of kosher salt, used olive oil rather than butter, and cooked it entirely with the breast side up. I also inserted a pop-up thermometer, which you can purchase at your local grocery store, and it turned out excellent. Will definitely continue making my turkey this way. Thanks for the recipe!
