Monterey Chicken

Reviewed: Dec. 21, 2013
I was a little skeptical...teryiaki sauce and cheese? All I had was some leftover homemade maple teryiaki, which was really sweet. I added some celery salt and hot peppers and it came out amazing!

Best Brownies

Reviewed: Nov. 12, 2013
I followed the advice of previous cooks and used a wisk rather than a mixer. Added some butterscotch chips to both the brownies and frosting, which turned out almost like a fudgey glaze. Mmmmm craving satisfied.

Chicken Enchilada Soup III

Reviewed: Oct. 19, 2013
Substituted extra fine ground corn meal for the masa harina and doubled the recipe. It was great on our first cold day this fall...and definitely made it into rotation!

Three Ingredient Peanut Butter Cookies

Reviewed: Sep. 5, 2013
I'm nine months pregnant and been putting off grocery shopping due to the summer heat. This came back to bite me when I was craving sweets and my kitchen was void of baking staples. I remembered my mom making these as a kid so I looked up the recipe. Not being one too make things TOO easy I added a bit of vanilla and cinnamon, and a pinch of salt and baking soda per a previous review. OMG yum! Craving satisfied!

Best Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Aug. 30, 2013
I thought they smelled a little weird after adding the vanilla, then I realized I added rum extract. So they taste a little bit like eggnog cookies, but still amazing!

Cool Cucumber Salad

Reviewed: Aug. 23, 2013
I used what I had on hand...fresh garden cucumbers and plain greek yogurt. Also subbed celery salt for kosher. Goes great with rice and hummus for a refreshing vegetarian greek meal

Bubble Pizza

Reviewed: May 17, 2013
My mom use to make this when I was a kid, and I'm so happy to have found this recipe for my kiddos. You can use almost any combination of toppings and cheeses. Thanks!

Slow Cooker Carnitas

Reviewed: May 17, 2013
I followed the recipe exactly, and didn't love it. It just wasn't as good as the real thing.

Sweet Potatoes with Pecans and Sausage

Reviewed: May 17, 2013
No one else in my house was crazy about this, but I love it! Make sure you use maple sausage so the flavors mesh.

Easy Baked Apples

Reviewed: May 17, 2013
I make these for my nephews whenever apples are on sale. They are good for dessert with a little ice cream or over oatmeal for a hearty breakfast.

Pecan Pie V

Reviewed: May 17, 2013
This was my first homemade pecan pie. I sought out a recipe that doesn't use corn syrup and was pleasantly surprised at how it turned out. I used grandma's recipe for pie crust so I could avoid the processed ones from the store. It is always the first thing people go for when they come over for holidays. This last year, the pecan pie was gone before the turkey was out of the oven!

Sweet Potato Eggnog Casserole

Reviewed: May 17, 2013
I varied from great-grandma's recipe a couple years ago and used this one. Everyone loved it! I did use fresh sweet potatoes and skipped the sugar since eggnog is so sweet already.

Tim's Green Bean Casserole Extraordinaire

Reviewed: May 17, 2013
I made this for my first Thanksgiving with my BF (three years ago). His cousin showed up and ate it all. I made another one the next day for the big family dinner. The same cousin met me at the car and took the casserole home! Everyone thought I showed up empty-handed! The last two years I made it with fresh green beans from my garden. YUM!

Cream Cheese Corn

Reviewed: May 17, 2013
Follow the directions.DO NOT use a crockpot, even on low. It's great if you do it the right way! Add a little sugar if you like it the southern way!

Homesteader Cornbread

Reviewed: May 17, 2013
Every fall, my Memom sends me a big box of local South Georgia cornmeal to use for my dressing recipes. I always have a lot left over and need to use it up, so I make cornbread. I've made this with and without the corn (my crew really doesn't do corn) and it's great either way. I've also used this recipe as a base for my cornbread dressing (leave out the sugar) and it's great.

Vegetable Chowder

Reviewed: May 17, 2013
My family loves veggies, but this didn't go over well at all. The veggies turned out mushy and it was way too much cheese.

Broccoli Salad III

Reviewed: May 17, 2013
This is almost identical to a very popular broccoli salad I use to make for a restaurant I worked at. I was craving it and found this recipe, which is super close! I like to use apple cider vinegar and omit the bacon as it gets mushy and chewy.

Easy Batter Fruit Cobbler

Reviewed: May 17, 2013
Made this with blackberries for BF's birthday last year. He LOVED it! I was super shocked at how insanely easy it was. Now whenever fresh fruit is on sale in the summer, I buy tons of it and freeze it for making cobbler in winter!

Cranberry Apple Sauce

Reviewed: May 17, 2013
Substituted orange juice because it's all I had. I did add sugar, but it would have been ok without it. This was so easy I'll never buy cranberry sauce again!
