I work and go to college full time, and I love to cook! I love the whole process: planning, preparing, presenting, I don't even mind the cleaning...nothing is more satisfying than leaving the kitchen with a full tummy, leftovers in the fridge, dishes put away, and counters sparkling.
My favorite things to cook
My live-in is a bodybuilder, so we keep it pretty healthy. I use a lot of lean protein like chicken and eggs, and whole wheat pastas, bread, and tortillas. We also have a huge garden containing all of our favorite herbs and vegetables, so I use the fresh ingredients as much as possible.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I come from a long line of Southern women who show their love for their family and friends by feeding them. While I have inherited this tradition, I have modified it from soul food and comfort desserts to more wholesome options.
My cooking triumphs
I have developed, as I'm sure most foodies do, my own cook-personality. I have a way of doing things that is my very own; my favorite utensils, igredients, and methods.
My cooking tragedies
Oh wow...I don't know where to start. It has been the tragedies that have lead me to the way I do things now. I have killed more than one herb garden (thankfully my bf has a VERY green thumb and can keep plants alive despite my negative impact). I tried once to make gnocchi...now I just buy it. I discovered that in each family there is but one sibling who can bake: and it's not me. I can't make biscuits or cookies to save my life.
