Cream Cheese Squares

Reviewed: Nov. 10, 2014
I've made this recipe multiple ways. As it's written it's a 4 for me. I've made with apricot and raspberry preserves. My favorite is adding 1 tsp. almond extract to the cream cheese instead of the vanilla then topping the cream cheese with raspberry preserves. With those changes I'd give it a 5. As others have stated melting about 3 Tbls. butter then brushing that on top of the crescent roll worked best and helps to cut back on the butter a bit.

Holiday Brie en Croute

Reviewed: Oct. 3, 2014
I applied the egg white to the edges and couldn't stick the dough together then so all the jam leaked out. It was ugly and I didn't have the jam inside for the flavor. I may try again without applying the egg white to the edges.

Sassy Chicken Enchilada Dip

Reviewed: May 31, 2014
I took into account what others said that it could use more flavor so I used the Spicy Chicken Breast recipe on this site and I liked it. I took it cold to our card night in small crock and heated it there so we had it both hot and cold. I like it better hot. I"m using the leftovers today to make enchiladas and adding some pepper cheese.

Nothing special. It needed more flavor. Not sure I care for the texture either.

Erin's Cheesy Broccoli Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 5, 2014
I used my own homemade chicken stock and about 1 1/2 cups good sharp cheddar.I also slightly browned the onions first with a little butter to give it a little more depth of flavor then added the onions to the broccoli after it was cooked. Next I used my immersion blender but I left lots of chunks of broccoli. The soup turned out thick and creamy and they loved the bits of whole broccoli. Great quick soup.

Corn Chowder with Sausage

Reviewed: Nov. 17, 2013
Hubby would give it a 5 and I would give it a 3 so I settled on a 4 star. It really tastes too much like cream corn to me. I didn't have the marjoram and used chicken broth instead of plain water.

Simple Garlic and Basil Pesto

Reviewed: Oct. 12, 2013
Didn't have enough red pepper flakes but it was very good. My whole family liked it. I roasted the pine nuts before blending.

Pesto Pasta with Chicken

Reviewed: Oct. 12, 2013
I too had to use much more pesto sauce to cover the pasta sufficiently. Probably about 1 1/2 cups. I made the "simple garlic and basil pesto sauce" from this site. I added some orange peppers cooked with the tomatoes and garlic. Very good all my family liked it even though it was green and they seem to have an aversion to anything that color.

Peach Cobbler VI

Reviewed: Apr. 7, 2013
This went over great at card club. I used butter instead of margarine. Next time I want to try almond flavoring in the batter. Super quick to mix up. I laid the peaches all pretty around in a fan which was a waste of time as the batter bubbled over the peaches and drowned them. It looked fine but not as pretty as it went in the oven.

Chocolate Chip Toffee Bars

Reviewed: Sep. 6, 2012
My 3 guys loved these bars. Not nut lovers in our baked good we didn't add them. Next time I'll eliminate the 1/4 toffee bits from the top at the end. They were crunchy and stuck in your teeth. I didn't like the soft texture of the bar with the tiny bit of crunchy top here and there it felt like something was on it that shouldn't be.

Asian Sugar Snap Pea Appetizer

Reviewed: Jul. 4, 2012
This recipe had mixed reviews. I didn't coat in the oil before cooking but marinated the pea pods for about 15 minutes in the sauce minus the 3 TBLS. garlic flavored oil. I will try again and marinate longer and see if that adds some more flavor.

Perfect Deviled Eggs

I did not care for this recipe. The filling was brown and very unappealing. I love worcestershire and horseradish but the worcestershire sauce is very strong.

Almond Bear Claws

Reviewed: Feb. 11, 2012
I made these as written and really liked them. I did add a glaze to the top made with powdered sugar, amaretto liquor, and a few drops of milk. YUM! I didn't put the almonds on top before cooking since some said they burned and just added after the glaze was drizzled on top.

Cake Balls

Reviewed: Jan. 25, 2012
I used amaretto liquor with yellow cake and dipped it in chocolate. It tasted good but the time to dip and mess with toothpicks stuck in each and then I stuck those in a big piece of styrofoam so the would be nicely formed was just too much work.
