Giant Chocolate Chip Cookie

Reviewed: Feb. 5, 2012
I can't actually comment about this recipe because of the disaster it created in my oven. DON'T USE PIZZA PANS with the HOLES in them!! It didn't even occur to me that this could be problematic but it very much was. Little bits of dough fell to the bottom of the oven almost immediately. It was smoking within 3 minutes. This, then, created a super-preheat scenario in the oven that then made the cookie too brown. In case you didn't think about the potential issues that would come with a perforated pizza pan--DON'T USE A PERFORATED PIZZA PAN!

Pumpkin Fudge

Reviewed: Nov. 24, 2010
I just made this fudge this morning for Thanksgiving tomorrow and it's really good, just follow the directions. I didn't use a thermometer--just a clock and timed to the 18 minutes. I think the difficulty with fudge that others also share is defining "rolling boil." You truly have to cook this 18 minutes once it's rolling, meaning that you stir it and it continues to boil at nearly the same rate, despite the stirring. My fudge did begin to scorch slightly with 2 minutes left, so I had to stir constantly at that point forward. It did not impact the taste. And the chips took surprisingly long to melt. But it set up well and is very, very good, unlike some cloyingly sweet pumpkin fudges. I did use pumpkin pie spice in lieu of cinnamon.

Creamy Vegetable Chowder

Reviewed: Jan. 23, 2010
We really, really didn't like this. Bland, thin, and generally unappetizing. Not sure why our perception of the dish is so different from so many others, but will not be making this again.

Chocolate Truffle Cookies

Wow! Just the way I love a chocolate cookie--fudgy, mildly dense, and very strongly chocolate. Yum!

Chocolate Cherry Chip Cake

Reviewed: Jan. 14, 2008
Wow! This was great! It didn't even bake all the way in the middle and my guests loved it nonetheless. They even liked the less-done sections. Really, really good!

Wow! This was great. It didn't even bake all the way in the middle and it didn't even matter. My guests loved it--even the less-done middle.

Lemon Sugar Tea Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 20, 2007
I was very disappointed in this recipe, mostly because I anticipated a cookie that looked like the one depicted with the recipe on this site. Instead, mine spread too thin and darkened and had a very odd texture. They were okay, but nothing like I imagined they would be, which somehow made them less than ideal. They were intended for a Christmas open house but I trashed that idea because they were just too ugly.

Best Brownies

I really liked these. As someone else said, they truly are a good hybrid of cakey and fudgey brownies. They were good frosted and unfrosted.

Dalmatian Bars

My mother-in-law greatly loved these brownies and they WERE excellent. She's getting them for her birthday. I did underbake them a tad and that seemed to make them extra-fudgy and extra-yummy.

Chicken Salad Croissants

Reviewed: Jun. 20, 2007
I greatly liked this salad, especially with the chunks of swiss. I served in whole wheat bread as sandwiches and changed nothing except adding a dash of curry powder. Very, very good!

I only had a bite of this cake but it was sure tasty and disappeared, literally, within minutes of serving it at a family gathering. Yum, yum!

Sausage Quiche Squares

My husband really liked this, as did my 1 year old. There was something about it I did not care for, though. Perhaps it was the cottage cheese. I prefer an eggy-er texture.

Wassail Punch II

Reviewed: Dec. 17, 2006
I made this in the crockpot and it was very, very good (though not as aromatic as I hoped). I really didn't think I, personally, would like it as I'm not a big fan of hot drinks unless it's cold outside and they serve a function to warm me up. The flavor of this was really nice, though. My party guests enjoyed it a lot too.

These were a hit at my holiday party last night. And I had made them last weekend. The writer was right when she said they last through the holidays.
