Asian Chicken Noodle Salad

Reviewed: Jul. 31, 2002
This was an awesome salad recipe! I used prepared salad lettuce (to make it easier) and it was great. Loved the blend of flavors and the dressing is great on lots of other salads, etc. Definitely a keeper.

Awesome Carrot Cake with Cream Cheese Frosting

Reviewed: Sep. 16, 2002
I agree with some of the others who didn't like this cake either. The taste was okay, but the texture was very rubbery and the icing was pasty. It really wasn't much like a cake at all. I, too, don't understand why this recipe is rated so high. I even made it with the modifications from the reviews and it still didn't work. Needs much less oil, or more flour, and the icing needs less cream cheese and butter to make it more fluffy.

Manicotti

Reviewed: Sep. 16, 2002
I thought this was a good basic, but a little bland for me. I added lots more italian seasoning to the cheese mixture. I wonder if cottage cheese could be used as well...

Cafeteria Carrot Souffle

Reviewed: Sep. 16, 2002
This was much too sweet, but not too bad. If I made it again, I would cut the sugar in half (as other ratings suggest), and add spices (cinnamon, nutmeg, etc.).

To Die For Blueberry Muffins

I thought these would be sweeter, and I would try using buttermilk next time. They are missing something...but they are overall good (although I have had better).

Very good! Will try to add cinnamon nex time and the bread can be varied. Would be delicious with Whiskey sauce or brown sugar sauce.

Bing Cherry Gelatin Mold

Absolutely one of the most fun and flavorful recipes I've tried. And it was delicious! I used a beautiful and intricate bundt pan from Williams-Sonoma, and I didn't think it would come out whole but it did! It was a big hit with everyone! Thanks Andee!

This was okay but wasn't as fabulous as the ratings have said. I won't make it again.

David's Secret Ingredient Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Sep. 17, 2002
THis was a big hit for Christmas one year. I thought they were great and the rice crispies gave it a good flavor and a neat texture. It was kind of messy to make but delicious!

Tucson Lemon Cake

Reviewed: Sep. 23, 2002
I hate to be the only low rating here, but this was just not what I expected. It wasn't light, there was too much of a flour taste, and when I tried to get it out of my generously greased pan it stuck like no other. I'm still trying to get it out of the pan two days later! The only part that was really good was the lemon glaze, and it was the only part of this recipe I will make again.

By far the best cookie recipe I have found! It was definitely the pudding. They stayed fresh forever! I can't wait to try butterscotch pudding, and I wonder how chocolate would be. Thanks for the great recipe Debbie!

Brown Sugar Meatloaf

Reviewed: Oct. 18, 2002
Okay, this is THE best recipe I have gotten so far from this website. It was sweet and juicy and simply DELICIOUS! And, I've never made meatloaf before but this was so easy. My husband who hated meatloaf actually enjoyed it, and my picky son cleaned his plate! Thanks for the great recipe!

Pumpkin Spice Cookie

Reviewed: Oct. 18, 2002
I was really unsure what to think of this recipe because they tasted delicious but I didn't like the texture at all. The longer they sat, the gooier they got, but the better they tasted! I think I would try it as a cake recipe next time, add some buttercream or cream cheese icing. I think it would make a great low-fat cake.

Chocolate Snowdrops

This is fabulous! The cookies are really soft and delicious. Definitely do not overcook them. 11 minutes worked perfect for me. I can't wait to try the other cake mixes. The ingredients couldn't be easier, however, the dough was tough to work with. Still, a very neat recipe. Thanks!

Awesome Slow Cooker Pot Roast

Reviewed: Nov. 26, 2002
Excellent recipe. Very easy and tasty. The longer the meat cooks, the better it tastes and the more tender it is. I took the suggestions of other reviewers and added marjoram, oregano, thyme, garlic, and onions the second time I cooked it, and it definitely made an improvement (although it was great as is). Will become a regular for me (the highest of compliments!)

Creamy Mushroom Peas

Reviewed: Jan. 4, 2003
This was a good dish but not great. It is definitely a little on the bland side (I thought), some would say just mild. It would be easier to have regular peas than to go through all of that to make it. It's not bad, just not quite worth the trouble. Who knows, maybe it is better the next day?

Butternut Squash Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 4, 2003
I was so dissapointed in the final result of this soup because it really was like baby food in consistency- so much so that we had to throw it out. And I also cut down on the cream cheese. Before I added the cream cheese and pureed it, I kept tasting the broth and thought it was very good, so I anticipated a great soup. Then it was a huge pain to puree in batches, and we couldn't even eat the final soup! I might attempt this again, but will not puree. Also, what made it much easier was buying the pre-packaged cut p butternut squash our supermarket sells. You just throw it in- no cutting involved. Anyhow, the broth tastes good, so it is a good base.
