Best Ever Sausage with Peppers, Onions, and Beer!

Reviewed: Mar. 15, 2011
Amazing! I cut down the ingredients since it's just my fiance and I, but it worked out perfectly! Very thick and hearty, goes wonderful with a white rice.

Spoiled Baby Back Ribs

Reviewed: Apr. 17, 2011
AMAZING recipe! Very simple to do, and my fiance and I both loved it! We didn't have any apple cider vinegar, so I subbed in regular vinegar - still amazing! I might cut down on the amt of brown sugar just a smidge next time as I found it a bit sweet. Overall, the recipe as written was just fabulous! Will definitely make this again.

Penne with Spicy Vodka Tomato Cream Sauce

Reviewed: Apr. 18, 2011
OMG....AMAZING! Used turkey sausage instead of italian sausage, subbed 1 can of tomato paste + 2 cans water for the crushed tomatoes, and subbed butter/milk for the whipping cream. Still came out FABULOUS! The fiance was raving about it all night! We both loved the spiciness from the red pepper flakes - I'd added in about 3/4 tsp for a little extra kick. Also added a bit of basil, garlic powder, and smidge of dried parsley vs fresh. Would recommend this to ANYONE!

French Dip Sandwiches

Reviewed: Apr. 28, 2011
What an amazing, simple recipe! I put the roast with spices in the slow cooker at 6:30am before leaving for work, and by the time we sat down to eat (a full 12 hours later), everything was perfect! I took the roast out of the juice and strained the juice to get rid of any remnants of spice. We used store bought french bread (freshly made) and the sandwiches were so, so light! Will definitely make again!

Shoyu Chicken

Reviewed: Sep. 17, 2011
Amazing! Marinated for 48 hours in everything except the cayenne pepper and the onion (I subbed in dried onion flakes as I has no onions on hand), and cooked in the oven for 40 mins @ 350F. It is DEFINITELY a spicy dish! My other half insisted on making another serving of the marinade to use as a sauce - not a bad idea, though our mouths were on fire for a while! Next time, will just serve the chicken as is, with no extra marinade, to keep the spiciness down a bit :) Excellent recipe, definitely a keeper!

Fantastic Lemon Butter Fillet

Reviewed: Mar. 16, 2011
Excellent addition to fish to really make it pop! I used cod fillets and it turned out great. The only thing I would do differently next time is to cut down on the amount of butter used - it almost seemed a little too thick and stole away from the lemon peppery flavor.

Oven-Barbecued Pork Chops

Reviewed: Mar. 22, 2011
Excellent recipe! Smelled amazing while cooking. I scaled the amounts down since there were only two of us, and the result was still great. My fiance thoroughly enjoyed the pork chops though he felt they were a bit 'vinagry'. They did have a good kick to them, but I would still make them again!

Homesteader Cornbread

Reviewed: Apr. 17, 2011
A tasty cornbread, and not bad for my first attempt! I cut the recipe in half as there were two of us. My fiance is the self professed cornbread connoisseur, and he said it wasn't bad. I didn't mind it myself, but found the bread somewhat grainy. If making next time, I would likely soak the cornmeal a little longer. Overall, not too bad!

Baked Ziti III

Reviewed: May 6, 2011
This was a wonderful pasta dish! It took quite a bit longer to cook than I anticipated though. I would add a bit more basil throughout the dish next time though, just to amp up the flavour.

Slow Cooker Texas Pulled Pork

Reviewed: Sep. 9, 2011
AMAZING home cooked pulled pork! Tastes just as great as when I make it with the seasoning packets from the grocery store - better even! The only change I made was to use regular vinegar instead of cider (I didn't have any in the house) but it was still fantastic! I did find the onion a tad overpowering, so I will probably cut it down next time...but overall...will definitely make again!
