Fluffy White Frosting

Reviewed: Mar. 29, 2002
I found this to be delicious when it was fresh but it looked terrible the next day. I frosted it the night before and the next day it looked dried up on the cake. I would not recommend it to anyone.

A co-worker has been bringing this to potlucks for years and I kept asking her for the recipe. She never got it to me until this AM and then I found it on here! It's so yummy....and I'll be making it this weekend for Easter...great color for the occasion!

Pistachio Cake II

Reviewed: Apr. 1, 2002
I loved the cake, as did my co-workers! I didn't love the frosting though. I think I would make it with Cool Whip next time. I would make the cake again!

Amaretto Cake

Reviewed: Apr. 21, 2002
Had to use a white cake mix but I don't think affected the outcome. My friends liked but I wouldn't rush to make it again. It was a very wet cake so some of the slices were falling apart. Also, I'm not much of a drinker so it was a little strong for me when I got a slice that had a hole poked in it with lots of the alcohol.

Yummy Honey Chicken Kabobs

Reviewed: Apr. 24, 2002
I was so disappointed after reading so many good reviews. I marinated some chicken breasts for about 24 hours but I found them to be too salty which I'm sure is from the soy sauce. I would probably go with low sodium soy sauce next time...if I ever make it again.

Ty's Barbequed Chicken

Reviewed: May 10, 2002
I have to admit that I omitted the onions. I thought it was OK, not great. Maybe I'll try it again with the onions next time.

Black Magic Cake

Reviewed: May 16, 2002
After reading the reviews, I thought I'd try this one since my friend requested a chocolate cake for his birthday. I was kind of disappointed. I usually make box cakes and everyone loves them. The cake partially stuck to the pan and since I wasn't going to frost it, I had to make a trifle out of it to salvage it. I'm sure everyone will like the trifle but I wouldn't bother next time. Back to box cakes for me.

Chocolate Macaroon Bundt Cake

Reviewed: Jun. 7, 2002
I made this for work and the general consensus was that it was too dry...like the desert! It was time consuming and I, like the previous rater thought that there was not enough liquid in the recipe. I miss the Pillsbury version of this cake so I thought I'd make this but was disappointed. Next time, I would double the coconut part and use a box dark chocolate cake. The batter was so thick with this recipe that the coconut sat on top the whole time. Sorry, nothing good to say about this one.

Creamy Orange Cake

Reviewed: Sep. 10, 2002
Thought it was a good recipe but I wasn't that excited about it. Everyone at the dinner thought it was pretty good also. I don't think I would make it again because I think I could find something better.

Honey Glazed Ham

I took others' advice and made 1/2 the sauce...excellent idea. I didn't think it tasted quite like HoneyBaked but it was delicious! Everyone loved it as well!

Chocolate Eclair Dessert

Reviewed: Apr. 18, 2003
Can't say enough about this dessert. I already gave the recipe to 2 other people! Some suggestions were: use chocolate graham crackers, chocolate pudding, bananas. We didn't think it was like an eclair but it was an excellent dessert that I'll make over and over again...nice to not have to turn on the oven! I used the sugar free pudding, low fat milk and next time will use the low fat grahams. I was unsure of how this would come out so I hesitated to use them but next time, I will! I used one 12 oz. tub of the whipped chocolate frosting (although it called for 16 oz.) and it worked out fine...otherwise, it might have been too sweet. Thanks for the recipe, Kristie!

Classic Baked Mostaccioli

Reviewed: Sep. 24, 2003
Made this last night for 20 people. Everyone raved about it but I would next time add more sauce. I don't like when it gets too dry. Otherwise, it was tasty and it was a crowd please...and it was super easy! I'll make again for sure.

Marbled Pumpkin Cheesecake

Reviewed: Nov. 27, 2003
This was delish! Made it for Thanksgiving today and it was gone in about 10 minutes flat. Everyone raved about it. I love trying new recipes and seeing all of the great reviews on this page enticed me to give this one a try and I'm glad I did. This one's a keeper! I did reduce the temperature a little because I use a dark coated pan and when I baked the crust, it seemed to come close to burning so I added a few minutes to the baking time and it was great. Give this one a try!

Spinach Quiche

Reviewed: Dec. 14, 2003
Loved this recipe. Read the reviews and have to agree that it makes too much filling but I just took some out before I poured the egg mixture over it, put it in a little corningware dish and put a little of the egg on the top and baked both. Fantastic! I messed up and put the cheddar on top from the beginning but it still came out great. Thanks for the recipe! Oh, almost forgot, I too cut the butter in half as others recommended. :)

Crispy Marshmallow Balls

Reviewed: Dec. 31, 2003
I made these last night because my friend had made them for Christmas and I loved them. Her recipe was a little different. She doesn't add butter and to tell you the truth, I couldn't tell the difference. I stopped buying margarine years ago. It's all chemicals. My friend cuts her marshmallows in 1/2 and freezes them for about 1/2 hr so it's easier to dip them. I found using the whole marshmallow makes them too huge so I did cut them with kitchen scissors and used skewers to dip them. Next time, I may leave out the butter. They are time consuming though unless you have people helping you. I'm not sure who can do them in 20 minutes. After doing 2 trays, I gave up, threw a few marshmallows in the caramel, melted them, threw in some krispies and pressed them in a pan for a big krispie treat. My husband got a good chuckle out of that. I'm tempted to try that toasted coconut idea. Sounds yummy! Eat up! The diet starts tomorrow! Happy New Year!

Mom's Ginger Snaps

Reviewed: Jan. 4, 2004
Loved this recipe. Tried to use someone's suggestion of lowering the temp to 350 and baking for 6 mins for a softer cookie but it didn't work for me. I ended up baking them for about 10 mins and they were pretty soft. It's a keeper!

Chili I

Reviewed: Jan. 28, 2004
This was my first attempt at chili. It was really easy and everyone loved it. I'm a little white Italian girl from Boston so anything with "heat" scares me! I now live in San Diego where Mexican and spicy foods are king so I'm trying to adjust to my friends' tastes. I only used one jalapeno and to me, that was spicy enough. That was really the only complaint from the crowd and that was my fault so I can't give it less than 5 stars even though they didn't rate it as high. They all said that it was a great 1st attempt! I had to thicken it up with a little bit of cornstarch but I loved it and will make it again! Thanks for the recipe. :) Oh, I agree that it's better the second day, especially if you don't like it as spicy. Today is day three and I brought some leftovers for lunch. Yum!

Oh-So-Good Chicken

Reviewed: Mar. 3, 2004
I would actually give this 4.5 stars. I got some raves but they all voted 4 stars because it wasn't so awesome as to give it 5 stars. It's pretty easy to put it together. One person suggested more cheese because she loves cheese! I was going to try the suggestion of crumbling tortilla chips on top but I was out of time and I'm not sure how much I would like that one top of rice. Overall thumbs up!

Sesame Green Beans

Reviewed: Mar. 3, 2004
Very good. Everyone liked them. They were a little time consuming just because I had to make a big quantity. I used a touch of sesame oil as well as olive oil so it gave it a little extra flavor. Will make again.
