Aaron's Tourtiere
About this Cook
I love food. I think about it and read about it all the time. I watch it on tv more than any other programming. I'd rather read a food magazine than a fashion magazine any day. I have many many cookbooks but I very rarely ever cook from them! I enjoy going to food shows/exhibitions and experiencing ethnic restaurants. Its getting disappointing though to go out for dinner and think that I can do a better job...
My favorite things to cook
I like to bake/roast meat and vegetables in the oven together for a simple tasty meal.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I make Tourtiere every Dec. 24th for my fiance and my son. Growing up Christmas always meant cabbage rolls. I try to entice my mother to make them so that I can learn but of course mine will never be as good as hers.
My cooking triumphs
According to my husband and son I have them often, but I don't really think so...

Hamburger Steak with Onions and Gravy
Made this last night and we loved it! Made as directed. Loved the sherry in the gravy. I wish I had made more gravy. We look forward to having this again!

Quick and Easy Mexican Chicken
This was a hit! Pickled Jalepeno peppers on top of the cheese when it goes in the oven really adds to the Mexican (Tex-mex?) taste. Sour cream served with, really completes the dish. Will do again.

Slow Cooker Pierogie Casserole
To Catrv - you certainly don't need a slow cooker to enjoy this. This is ready to serve after all the ingredients are cooked and combined. The slow cooker is a great way to hold the meal for a potluck for to have ready after a busy afternoon.
