I discovered kuchens while at a friend's house in high school. Her mom made a peach kuchen that was wonderful--and became one of my first collected recipes. Here is her recipe:
1/4 cup margarine, softened
1/4 cup sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 cup unbleached flour

I am right now cooking sauerkraut and pork chops (with some onion and apple thrown in for good measure), mashed potatoes and black-eyed peas.
