Best Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 9, 2011
Oh, gosh. I really wanted to like this recipe...I really did. My niece likes chewy cookies and I thought this would fit the bill. However, they were bland, and the texture was less like a chewy cookie and more like a muffin on top of a cookie bottom. I'm an experienced baker but usually follow a recipe the first time I try it as it is written and then make adjustments the second time around. There were so many alterations needed in this recipe that I think it will be easier to just find another. It's a popular recipe...with a lot of gold stars...but if you are looking for anything that resembles a traditional cookie...look elsewhere. Good luck!

Seafood Fettuccine

Reviewed: Dec. 1, 2011
Good recipe! I modified by using 1/2 cup of butter, a dash of crushed red pepper in with the garlic, and some fresh lemon juice for brightness. I also used heavy cream (and was thankful that I did because it wasn't watery and there was no need to thicken with the cornstarch). *It's not an alfredo sauce with regard to thickness; it's more like a parmesan-butter-cream sauce. So don't be alarmed.* Quite tasty. After the shrimp and scallops were cooked, I wilted some arugula before adding the heavy cream. (We like the peppery flavor.) *I would recommend using scallops that are at least 1/2 inch in diameter lest they become rubbery while the shrimp are cooking.* I garnished with some diced roma tomatoes and some of the grated parmesan, and it looked beautiful on the plate. This is quite a lot of food but is definitely "company" worthy. Especially if served with a salad, garlic bread, and your favorite white wine. I think you could modify this recipe to suit your own tastes without any difficulty at all, even for those who haven't cooked a tremendous amount of seafood...or just haven't cooked a tremendous amount. If you follow the recipe you'll yield spectacular results! Happy cooking!

Broccoli Cheese Soup V

Reviewed: Mar. 28, 2010
Good basic recipe. I played with iit and made it into a potato/broccoli (I even steamed up some shredded carrot) and cheese soup. Used a small brick of 2% Velveeta and 1/2 bag of pre-shredded cheddar cheese. 1 c fat free milk. 1 box of good chicken stock. Used 1 tsp pureed garlic with the onion and butter. (Without the cheddar cheese or the garlic...I would not have rated this a 5). All in all a good starter recipe. Thanks for posting it!

Orange Pork Chops

Reviewed: Oct. 3, 2007
Hmmm. works as a good base recipe but I had to make several adjustments...way too many to list here. I will, however, say that I found the orange juice flavor to be overpowering. My suggestion: play around with the recipe and make modifications to taste. It's a good starting place as far as recipes go. Good luck!

Party Italian Wedding Soup

Reviewed: Mar. 9, 2006
I took advice from others who had already made it--and would avise that those planning to try it do the same. Mini meatball rolling was tedious, but whaddayagonnado? End result was worth the effort. It was a good basic recipe that with a few alterations made a tasty soup.

Easiest Pot Roast Ever

Reviewed: Aug. 14, 2004
I added a packet of Lipton Onion Soup Mix to the 1/2 cup of water and turned the meat frequently. It added great flavor. I omitted the celery(hate it with roast) and also the boullion (who needs it with the Lipton Onion Soup Mix?). Used red bliss potatoes. Easy. Good. Pretty standard way to make roast in a crock pot.

Garden Pasta Salad

Reviewed: May 16, 2004
A great summer recipe. I used almost all of one small bottle of balsamic dressing and almost all of one small bottle of Italian dressing, but I like my pasta salad wet. I added a bit more parmesan cheese, and substituted green pepper for red. It went really fast at the barbeque I brought it to, and people couldn't stop raving about it. It was a pretty presentation, light, and very easy to make. This one's a keeper. Thanks!

Tina's Fruit Dip

Reviewed: Apr. 23, 2004
I made this on a whim, because it looked fast and easy. I wasn't too sure about what the end result would be, given the ingredients, but who knew such an odd combination would blend together to form such a delicious, caramel flavor. I followed the directions exactly as written, and it was perfect. It was a huge success and there was none left over after the event...always the mark of a culinary triumph. Thanks.

Annie's Fruit Salsa and Cinnamon Chips

Reviewed: Mar. 29, 2002
This fruit salsa was amazing! I served it to a party of 30 guests, and every person there loved it! (I ended up having to have recipe cards printed up!) Cutting the fruit was the time consuming part, but it was incredibly easy to make, and well worth the effort. I substituted blueberries for raspberries and plum for the kiwi and used a pear preserve as the base. I served it with the cinammon chips (which were fabulous all on their own, by the way!) and people could not stop raving about it! I will DEFINATELY do this again!!!
