Penne Pasta with Veggies

Reviewed: Mar. 10, 2012
Great recipe, I changed it up a bit because I didn't have prosciutto or sun-dried tomatoes. I added a green pepper and diced red onion. This was a keeper.

BBQ Chili Pasta

Reviewed: Nov. 30, 2011
I wasn't sure how BBQ pasta would be but I wanted to try something a little different but not wildly so nobody would try it. I used a whole can (26 oz) of spaghetti sauce and a full cup of BBQ sauce because I like a saucy pasta sauce. Rainbow rotini, red bell pepper, a pound of ground turkey and some crush red pepper were the other changes I made. We all went back for seconds and I was asked to make it again soon. Def a keeper!

Cran-Apple Salad

Reviewed: Nov. 30, 2011
I really liked this recipe. I wasn't sure what it would taste like with the celery but it went really well with everything else. I didn't have the nuts to add to it and ended up using fresh cranberry sauce. I will be making this again.

Grandma's Corn Bread Dressing

Reviewed: Nov. 25, 2011
I have to say I was not a big fan of this dish. I don't know what happened but it didn't turn out good. I needed an allergy friendly recipe for Thanksgiving so I used a homemade cornbread mix (that turned out great.) I also added a diced carrot with the onion and celery. I will not be making this again.

Vegan Corn Muffins

Reviewed: Nov. 25, 2011
This turned out really good. I needed an allergy friendly cornbread recipe but couldn't find any that didn't call for milk. This was a lifesaver!

Cranberry Crunch Squares

Reviewed: Nov. 15, 2011
I really liked this recipe. I read the reviews but wanted to try the original how it is writen. But I ran out of brown sugar so ended up using 1/2 cup of white. The first batch was good but had to scrap the cranberries off the bottom of the pan. The second batch I made I used just white sugar and add a little bit more flour. I also took half the mix and pressed that on to the bottom of the pan then topped with cranberries and then the remaining oat mix. Pressed it all down flat and backed for 40 minutes. They were crunchy on the outside and a little gooey in the middle. Everyone liked them a lot.

Microwave Potato Chips

Reviewed: Nov. 8, 2011
These were pretty good. I didn't have parchment paper and had to use wax paper. I didn't know how this would turn out so I stayed there the whole time it cooked. It was ok but some of them stuck to the paper and after 5 minutes they started turning dark brown. I'll try it again but use other reviews and spray a plate or the turn table itself.

Slow Cooker Carrot Chicken

Reviewed: Oct. 18, 2011
I liked this recipe a lot. The fam on the other hand was not so much of a fan. I ended up adding more spices as it needed salt really bad. I made the gravy and it turned out fabulous served over mashed potatoes. I would make this again and change up the spices a little bit.

Reviewed: Sep. 28, 2011
First time making guac at home and it turned out fabulous! Even DD liked it and gave it a 4. I made mine a half mash and left some chunks in it. It was served this with homemade corn torilla chips. Yum!

Country Sausage Gravy

Reviewed: Sep. 25, 2011
I've never tried to make sausage and gravy before. The only thing I changed was a couple of the spices and I wish I had left out the red pepper. It was a bit too hot for my DD. I served this gravy with E-Z Drop Biscuits from this site. I love the flavor that the sautéed onions and peppers gave it. This is a keeper for sure.

Chicken Stew with Dumplings

Reviewed: Sep. 23, 2011
This was really good! Taking the advice from other reviews I used chicken leg quarters and made this in a slow cooker. I cooked the chicken with a diced onion in the water with some spices for 3 hours on high. I shredded the chicken and returned it to the pot with the veggies I had on hand and a little bit more spices for 1 hour. I then dropped the dumplings in and cooked for 45 minutes more. They came out a little mushy so I'll try this on the stovetop next time. I think I'll also add a little cornstarch to thicken the broth up a little more.

Chinese Fried Noodles

Reviewed: Sep. 23, 2011
This was really good. I didn't have carrots or peas so I used green bell pepper and broccoli. I liked the flavor the sesame oil gave it but DD and my niece did not. They also didn't like how the veggies I used made the noodle green. LOL Next time I'll add some other veggies for color.

Poke Cake II

Reviewed: Sep. 23, 2011
Great recipe and so easy to make! I've made this before with a raspberry jello and this time it was made with lemon jello. I used the jumbo sized jello mix and it covered the whole 9X13 cake. It was covered with a powder sugar, cool whip and cream cheese frosting.

The Best Potato Salad

Reviewed: Sep. 23, 2011
I'm not a potato salad person but this recipe is one that I really liked. I made this at the last moment to serve with slow cooked barbeque chicken (Zesty Slow Cooker Chicken Barbecue). It was good but ended up being 10 times better the next day. I didn't have relish so I chopped up some pickled cucumbers (Adrienne's Cucumber Salad) and added red and green bell peppers to it also. I will be making this again and have already shared it with family.

Zesty Slow Cooker Chicken Barbecue

Reviewed: Sep. 22, 2011
I didn't have Italian dressing so I added ketchup, brown sugar, Worchestershire sauce and mustard along with some spices. Cooked it for about 5 hours or so and served on hoggie rolls with potato salad. It turned out fabulously and everyone loved it.

Ramen Noodle Frittata

Reviewed: Sep. 22, 2011
I liked this dish but didn't love it. I added some sautéed onions, carrots and red and green bell peppers to it. I didn't have cheese so I left that out and added some water to the egg mixture. I also ended up baking it (at 350 for 20 or so minutes) because I doubled the recipe but didn't have a pan big enough to cook it in. I think it needed more spices the seasoning packets weren't enough or just weren't strong enough for my taste. I would make this again but add more spices next time around. ;0)

Crazy Cake

Reviewed: Sep. 21, 2011
Great cake recipe! I’ve been using this one for every holiday or family party I’ve gone to for the last year. I was looking for something my nephew (who is 4 and allergic to nuts, soy and milk) could have. I changed the oil to canola and everything else was good to go. He loved it and was glad he could have cake again. Thank you so much for submitting this recipe!

Cake Mix Cookies IV

Reviewed: Sep. 20, 2011
Super easy to make and they taste great ... what more could you want. I wanted cookies but didn't want to make them from scratch and take a long time mixing. This was the perfect solution. I only had butter cake mix so that's what I went with. I made some cookies bigger and lighter in color than others. I like my cookies small and more of a caramel color and DD likes them super big and barely golden. A win win for both of us.

Garlic Roasted Chicken and Potatoes

Reviewed: Sep. 20, 2011
Another fabulous recipe from this site. I added a chopped green bell pepper and an onion. I didn't have whole garlic cloves so I went with a couple tablespoons of minced garlic instead. I also went with chicken breasts cut into chunks. I'll double the sauce next time because everyone loved it so much.

Exquisite Yeastless Focaccia

Reviewed: Sep. 19, 2011
Great recipe, so easy to make and tasted really good. I added sesame seeds, garlic powder and Italian seasoning along with the parmesan cheese. I didn't feel like cayenne pepper but will try it next time.
